Clinging to my guns and religion in KCMO.
Finally got the (Yamaha) titanium muffler mounted on my lawnmower, but the original Briggs&Stratton flange gasket didn't survive the initial disassembly. I'm fed up with paying the outrageous cost for most original parts so I'd like to just make a gasket. I stopped at a couple parts and hardware stores, but didn't find anything that would work. I thought about annealing some thin aluminum and trying that, but beforehand I thought I'd ask for suggestions on easily obtainable material first.

Suggestions?

Thanks,
Mike

This old tinkering junkman has a bunch of left over aluminum flashing scraps that would do just fine.....but you are a flatlander/flyover now, and I still picking sand outta my ass.....

As small as that is, how about some soft copper? Aluminum is easy- cookie sheets. Maybe one of those "Air-Bake" sheets. They're pretty thick, but they're also 2 layers of pretty soft aluminum with something sandwiched between.
