I'm trial fitting certain upgrades before putting my engine in, so i have lots of questions popping up. This is one of them.

I bought a new fan clutch. Although this is 1979 specific (new one) it seems to be to short. Here is a picture of the new and old side by side.

When putting my old one on my new stewart water pump, it doesn't seat completly.

I wonder what is wrong. I suppose with the new clutch the fan will sit to far out of the shroud...

Which would be a correct clutch for this assembly.

BTW : this in non air

I know that for some stupid reason, GM put different hub/knub sizes on the vette water pumps than regular old chevrolet, and the pulleys are different depth to line up with the vette harmonica balancers, to to clear the front cross support, whereass if it wuz ME, I would have notched the cross support as many guys have.....

but it is what it is, and so you have a stock chebby fan clutch there, not the vette specific one....

I dont THINK the vette units were used on any other car, but you know it's been some decades ago for that opinion.....I could be rong,....
