I want to fill the 3rd brake light hole on my 92 bumper cover. Is there any resins/mat or any other method of doing this for a permanent long lasting repair?

If it's a urethane bumper then use 3M 8115 to glue a mat behind the hole and then use a urethane filler like Duramix 4058... not cheap but the repair will last a long time

I have one cartridge of the Duramix filler that is now at the end of its shelf life.... if you want it let me know....

4058 E-Z SAND PLASTIC FINISHING PASTE
Filled Part A and Part B components, packaged in a 6 fluid ounce dual
cartridge. For back-filling pinholes in repair areas of urethane or TPO
plastic bumpers and panels. To be used with the Duramix™ dispenser. Easy to
use. Produces excellent, non-swelling cosmetic base for primers and sealers.
Eliminates halo effects. No mixer tip required.
Work = 3 minutes
Sand = 8 - 10 minutes

If Jeff does not take it I am interested if you are willing to extend the offer. I am in the process of doing my bumpers too.

:drink:

It's probably enough material for both of you... keep in mind this is a finishing paste, not an adhesive. You only need a skim coat on top of the adhesive so that you're applying the primer to the filler material, not on top of the glue.

Jeff could take what he needs for the hole and then send it to you :thumbs:

If he doesn't want it it's yours.

Is Bondo a no-no when skim coating urethane bumpers or is it acceptable? I need to fill mine a bit to get the lines to blend in.

Let's see what Jeff says about the paste....

The other guy can have it. I am a ways from doing this fix and can just as easily switch hatchbacks and retain the 3rd brake light in the bumper. It was just an idea

8115 for 3/32" and then 4058 for the finish coat (another 1/32")... that's how I would do it.. not saying it's the best or the only way to do it

see Jeff's post? send me a PM with your address and I'll send you the 4058. Finally somebody can use it, I would hate having to throw it out....
