Actually it was Bush that started the controversial automotive bailout. It was completed by his successor, Obama.
That was the only thing Bush did that I did not agree with! He should have let GM and Chrysler fail! It was not part of his job description to use taxpayer money to bail out the auto industry.
The bailout, which ultimately totaled $85 billion, was originally begun during the waning days of the Bush administration. With a specific rescue effort rejected by the democratic Congress, the former Commander-in-Chief decided to tap into a separate, $700 billion fund Capitol Hill did approve for the bailout of Wall Street and the banking industry.
It does not matter to me what you think!
