Looking for ideas on installing a fuel cell in my 1970 vette that I am building with a SRIII tube chassis, C4 ZR1 suspension, small block gen 1 427 (603 hp and 540 lb/ft torque) and T56 Magnum trani. It has a Quick Fuel 950 carb and high flow mechanical fuel pump. It will be street legal but want to be able to road race also. Anyone have a cell in there car? If so what size, brand, placement etc? Would love some feed back and pictures would be great.
Thanks,
Rob

32gal ATL, the rectangular one maybe 34x17, they also make a 34x17 thats 22gal and not so deep. mine is between the frame rails pushed up close to the fabricated diff mount

What type of fuel filler do you use on the ATL and mods to the rear deck?

ATL filler, hooked up w hose to a check ball style filler plate on the cell.

any idea if one of those 22gal fuel cells that Jegs/Summit sells fits the stock location and could be used as a tank replacement ??? The replacement tanks seem to not fit all that great so why not use a fuel cell that is about the same price ?

Every now and then I kick around getting a 10 or 12 gallon tank/cell that I can position to the far right. I rarely need more than 10 gallons at a time for track sessions or cruising around town, and I can concentrate the tank and fuel weight to the right side of the car, which always seemed light to me. Plus, 8-10 gallons is going to slosh around (ignoring the foam at the moment) less in a short tank that a full width tank.

Just something for a future day when I've run out of higher priority things to change.

As low and far right as possible, 8 gallons. I used it for hillclimbs only.

So on my 80 with the big back glass I pulled the front hood surround and fenders off in one piece for access to the engine and front suspension. it will be held on with quick release fastners.

For the rear does anyone have some ideas on where to cut/separate the rear clip and glass from the bird cage? I want to leave the t top section and door strikers with the bird cage. Once I do this a cell is easy.
