Fuel line opitions

I just purchased another C3 (like I needed another). It has a gas leak in the rear, I will check it out more completely later, as I hope its the line from the tank to the rigid fuel line. On my other (also a 77), I had removed the body, so while it was off, I replaced the lines with stainless. This one I think is a better start so I will not (at this point) be removing the body. What are my fuel line (and return) options. I do not care about making it original but rather want to make it last (my wife's next husband's problem). Your suggestions are always appreciated. Jack

it's possible to take the original line off and reinstall or replace with the body oin. It's a bit of fiddling to get it by the kickup area but it can be done, you do need a lot of room under the car so it's best done on a lift.

It's almost impossible with stainless line and the body on. It's just won't bend into place. I did it with the car off the ground about 2 ft and I cut the line at about the rear of the door. Good place to put an inline filter!

I agree with above. Maybe I'm a wimp, but I tried to replace a 3/8ths fuel line with a car on jack stands and gave up before I destroyed the line. Maybe a tougher guy can do it, but be prepared for a challenge and roll up your sleeves. Having a lift will definitely help, but be sure your trans crossmember will come out first.

I installed stainless braided hose from Summit - advertized to be fuel resistant and it's been about 5 years, no leaks no problems...

These lines are under such low pressure that hose is perfectly fine. The line from tank to pump is a suction line, the return line is just a little above atmosphere pressure as it only pumps back to the (vented) tank. The return line pressure is basically as high as your vented gas cap allows, unless you still have the vapor canister line functional, then it's only atmoshere pressure....

You can use crimp fittings but hose clamps are just fine at the tank.... I use AN fittings at the pump and for the line from pump to carb...

The hose can very easily be installed with the body on...
