Gas is getting so costly, new engine?

1) The glass steam engine was using water as a lubricant for the piston. Water is not that bad of a lubricant as long as its not subject to heat in excess of 100 C or 212F. My father was a chemical engineer who worked in a US Air Force laboratory where they developed a lot of synthetic rubber, teflon, silicon materials for aircraft. He said that the lubricant viscosity of the silicon oil used in jet engines for bearing lubrication (in his day) was not as good as water. They had to use silicon oil since it was the only lubricant that could withstand jet engine temps.
