GEICO is not playing nice with the public.

My daughter was rear ended a few weeks ago - no damage or injuries to her or her vehicle, the girl who ran into her made a claim. The police arrived after the fact and no tickets were issued. I spoke with a GEICO rep and was reassured that this was a no-fault incident and that there would be no rate increase.
WRONG!
About a week after I spoke to the rep GEICO underwriters changed their minds and more than doubled her policy so I decided to shop around.

FIRST - GEICO AIN"T CHEAP! I found that my Allstate agent had much better rates and coverage.

SECOND - GEICO does business under 3 different names and they will switch your coverage back and forth between these three entities at will. When my agent researched my history with GEICO this was exactly the case. Why does GEICO do this? So you will not qualify for a discount in the future for being insured with the same company for a long period of time. Apparently if you switch companies a lot you get penalized for it. GEICO switches you without your knowledge so they can keep their rates high.
NOT NICE GEICO ! :pprrtt:

I would check Ma insurance law the person who rear ends someone is at fault. It wouldn't matter if your daughter threw the car into park and slammed on the brakes the person who hits her is at fault. I have two friends in the insurance biz if you want me to get case file contact me.

DV8, you in the NE region, I hope for your sake that ERIE INS company/exchange writes in NJ......I used them for over 20 years in Maryland and they carried ALL my insurance, commercial auto, personal vette auto, homeowners, business liab/manufactureres/contractors ins....and a Cat losss policy.....you will NOT find a more decent carrier in that region,

they even compared with USAA, that a olde tyme buddy had, and he got in there from his father yet...from over 1/2 century ago....

best of luck....

OH, BTW, he used to work for GEICO back in the late 60's...settling insurance claims, auto fires....

HOLLEY CARBS were the WAY out front with something like 90+% of the blame....

which is why I won't run a Holley design anything...

Is your daughter under 25? If so, that might be one reason.... no insurance wants young drivers...
I guess I'm old because I have Geico and they charge roughly 50% of what I paid at Allstate or Nationwide....

I like the Gecko.....

:rain:

The Gecko was charging us 25% more than what we are paying now. Ray, thanks for the offer but I simply dropped them. I have successfully battled with the auto insurers in the past regarding "no fault" insurance and mysterious rate hikes, this time it is simply easier to take my business elsewhere.
The part that also gets me is how the Gecko switched me between Geico's 3 entities for no apparent reason other than to deny me lower rates....:crap:

Ditto here....GEICO insures my DD for less than half what Allstate was charging me and has the Vette covered through a cooperating company. The Vette was insured by Hagerty for twice what I'm paying now. I guess there are circumstances that affect rates on an individual basis. I have a clean license with no accidents, so that must help.

I think Ins. Co's pull their rates outta their ass, especially here in FLORIDA

here in Florida, I have been with Hartford because of the AARP connection, it WAS the only way to get a decent enough rate, Linda was with GEICO and was paying over 800/year just for her Escort when we married almost 9 years ago....surely that was comp/collision too, but really now....800 for a '99 Escort?? only damn ticket she ever got was the one to heaven, she's a shoo in there....

at any rate, we got all 3 cars on with Hartford, same coverage for that money....then we added a Miata just under a year ago....that pushed them to about 1600/year...4 cars....two each...

I went to Haggerty on the vette for some 320/year but they wouldn't take the Miata....found another collector car company that wrote BOTH for 270/year, on that shakey 'stated' value coverage....better than nothing with Hartford...which was Liability ONLY....
now here is the bitch, when I pulled the Miata off the Hartford policy, to join the vette on their own policy....fucking HARTFORD pulled a fast one, and bumped my 300 dollar VAN liability to 500/year, right off the bat....

so I sold the van a couple months ago to my stepson who is busy in home remodeling, something I taught him years ago....no sense in it setting there unused running 500/year + tags/fees.....I still borrow it or another van back when I need to...so no real sweat, really....

NOW, when dropping the Van off Hartford, I directly challenged them about increases on the Escort....but they backed off and charged the same 400 bux, SO FAR....complete coverage....about 120/year for book value insurance....not worth it, IMO, but wife's decision....

INsurance here is about totally all over the map, and completely outta control, they must think I live on the waterfront in hurry caine zone or something....fuckers....

I have the '79 and my KarmannGhia insured with Hagerty, roughly $500 a year. I don't consider that expensive for two cars and agreed value policies....

The C6 vert fully covered was $600 for 6 months with Geico, then I added the Mustang and the premium went up to $780 for 6 months...

funny thing is that when I bought the Mustang I got online quotes for several cars, I got quotes for adding a '99 Escort station wagon, a '99 Corvette, a 93 Porsche and a 92 Crown Vic... I just wanted to see if there is a huge difference but all the quotes came back within $20..... weird... and the actual price I'm paying for the Mustang is exactly what they quoted online.... again, can't complain....

Geico wanted me to pay $300 plus per month to cover my Daughter in the Suburban I just bought for her for $2000.00.
$3600.00 a year to cover a $2000.00 Hooptie.:gurney:
Plus I had my 99 Ford Van with them on a separate policy.

Now Allstate covers both her 95 Suburban and my 99 Ford Club Wagon for 180.00 a month.
