as for being a cop and worrying about what people are carrying in their cars, it happened that yesterday i went out to a friend's place who lives in the desert. it's a bit of a tradition that when i go out there, we kill massive quantities of rocks. i was more heavily armed than any of the cops i passed on the road yesterday, and yet, not a one was ever in danger. and the reason is 1) i'm exercising my rights legally, and 2) i'm not breaking any other laws. even if i had been pulled over for speeding or some other minor infraction, the officer would have never been in danger.
but you get some crack head gang banger with a rap sheet longer than the oil slick in your driveway, then the cop has something to worry about.

I'm not against "open carry" either, but like TV said, it scares me a bit too. I'll admit I haven't been around guns all that much and in my area, they don't really serve much purpose. However, it's not the gun that scares me. Guns don't kill people, it's the crazy fuck that could be carrying it that kills people (not saying all gun owners are crazy, but if I don't know the person, how do I know they're ok or even legit?).

Not much hunting in my area, ranges are expensive, I don't believe we have an open carry policy here, the property sizes are small, and the population is high to where we are considered 'city,' so no shooting in your back yard.
Yeah, yeah self defense. I don't buy it. But that's my opinion relevant to my area and that has to deal with my region, not yours. If I was on a 40+acre piece of land far away from people, damn right I would have a gun.
Did I say I was against guns? No. Did I say there should be no open carry? No. Did I say the second amendment should be removed? No. Simply stated that you can't tell a bad person from good and them having a gun makes me nervous.

As far as being safe, I don't believe any area is safe, and I just don't see a gun giving me extra security. I'm sure many disagree. I just don't see any reason for me to have a gun. Why do you have such a problem with that? I realize people can go to ranges (that feel it's worth it, to me it's expensive) and most have cars and can drive where hunting is good. I know, what a novel idea. I'm merely speaking for myself and frankly don't care what other people think about it. I have used guns on a few occasions in my life, but I personally have no need for them.
You also have no idea how my area is. Most are sheep and follow the general consensus. As far as them being liberal? Can't say. I think even liberals have the ability to think on their own (to a certain extent).

I'm very aware that a criminal, wacko, what have you is supposed to follow the law, but you're right they choose not to. That doesn't change. I was simply mentioning that you can't trust anyone. Maybe we need to clarify a bit because I don't think you understand my point. Seeing a few firearms openly in a potentially hostile situation like a protest would set me back a little. However, I'm sure after watching his behavior for a little while I would be able to determine if he was a threat.
As far as the woman in church, was she armed or did she use another method (a heavy object, threw a child at him, etc)? I'm not aware of this incident. And yet again I AM NOT AGAINST PEOPLE HAVING GUNS EITHER AT HOME OR IN PUBLIC. I cannot stress that enough. I personally have not experienced enough situations to warrant me carrying a gun (I was also mugged at gunpoint when I was 15). Even in the worst situations, I don't think a gun would have changed any outcomes. There will always be times where a gun could pay off, but they are far a few between in my eyes.
Have fun in the garage and cool the fuck off. Never meant any harm to you or your beliefs.

As seen above, Let's get to the root of the problem. Gun carrying Americans don't kill people. We know what our rights are, and mine is to carry a gun/weapon. Unless you present a threat to me or mine, you'll never know I have it. Even if you do present a threat, I'm going to do my absolute best to defuse the situation so that you don't know that I have it.
Let's face it boys and girls, guns don't kill people, idiots kill people.
I also think that Americans are jumping off the deep end buying up all the arms and ammunition they can afford. The American public WILL NOT let that dumbass so called president put any more gun laws into effect.
I really don't have much hope for this country any more, we haven't had good, strong leadership in many, many years. But, as we all know, the president doesn't run this country, big business does.
Those that feel so strongly about this, I urge you to get all the education you can get, and write those in D.C. that represent you, seriously, I do!!!

I, personally, feel I have no use for a gun. I have used them but I just don't see it helping me in any situation. I'm sure there are times when that would be handy, I just don't think I would be in those situations enough to warrant it.

It's gun owners like you that don't scare me. I may be weary finding out you have a gun (on you), but that feeling wouldn't last long assuming you are trustworthy and genuine (and I'm sure I would figure that out fast).
My ex's father loved his guns. You would never know it, except I heard he used to compete in a lot of outdoorsman competitions (including some shooting competitions). He never flung them around, rubbed them in your face or anything like that. In fact, the last time I was at his house (her family lived in Montana) he showed me just how extensive his collection was: a full walk in closetDidn't quite expect that, but like I said, he never abused the power.
The public has a bad habit of jumping to conclusions. They automatically think all guns are bad because a few people miss used them or some psycho finally went off the deep end.

The IDIOTS are the God damned LAWYERS always picking apart every damn law they can to get their 'clients' off the hook, and from what I seen, thankfully they are not 100% successful.....HOW SOME EVER, methinks to clean the 'Big house' out and refill untill the streets are CLEAN again....
but then that gets down to the illegal DRUG issue, and the welfare that enables that consumption/behavior.....

I actually wanted to go to law school after finishing my engineering degree. I think its a very interesting profession. It takes a lot of smarts to debate a point of view effectively.
