I'm not against "open carry" either, but like TV said, it scares me a bit too. Well, grow some, and they won't scare you as much. I'll admit I haven't been around guns all that much and in my area, they don't really serve much purpose. What does that mean? They serve the same purpose wherever they are. Self defense, hunting, or simple target practice at the range. However, it's not the gun that scares me. Guns don't kill people, it's the crazy fuck that could be carrying it that kills people (not saying all gun owners are crazy, Well, thank you for that bit of sunshine but if I don't know the person, how do I know they're ok or even legit?).

You don't know. None of us do. That's why it's comforting to have more law abiding citizens carrying, to take out the occasional psycho who doesn't pay attention to the law or polite societal norms.

Damn! Get that sand out of your vagina! It's going to rub right through your thong. I'm not a beach person, so that's not an issue. Not much hunting in my area, Or here, either. ranges are expensive, But Corvettes aren't? I don't believe we have an open carry policy here, Sorry, can't help you there. Your place is run predominately by liberals, I believe, right? the property sizes are small, and the population is high to where we are considered 'city,' so no shooting in your back yard. I live in an upscale suburb, so there's no shooting in my backyard, either. That's why I go to the range.
Yeah, yeah self defense. I don't buy it. Just curious. How 'bout that moon landing claim? Did you "buy" that? But that's my opinion relevant to my area and that has to deal with my region, not yours. If I was on a 40+acre piece of land far away from people, damn right I would have a gun. You're safer on that 40 acre place in the middle of nowhere than currently in your highly populated city. And only there you would have a gun???? Did I say I was against guns? No. Did I say there should be no open carry? No. Did I say the second amendment should be removed? No. Simply stated that you can't tell a bad person from good and them having a gun makes me nervous. I just can't understand your reasoning. The bad guys already have the guns. Why are you worried when law respecting, and background checked, people like me have guns?
No shit none of us know. That's where I have the problem. Thanks for agreeing I would love to see that legal case where "...law abiding citizens carrying [guns], to take out the occasional psycho..." Like a fart in church Speaking of church, remember recently when that female church member stopped that psycho who was shooting people in that church. Just one example. in this current world. Once again, (apparently this wasn't clear) it's not the 'good' people that bother me, its the bad ones. They get the breaks and don't have to follow the rules.

On the contrary, they do have to follow the rules. They just choose NOT to. Hence the need for those of us who DO follow the rules to be in a position to deal with the situation when they choose to break the rules.
I'm wasting my breath. I'm heading out to the garage (to indulge in a "cheap" hobby).

I agree, but I go back to the root of the problem.....commie/liberals who have every excuse printed in the playbook for why they are on the streets....seems like 99% of the crimes are done by some jerk out of the system long enough to repeat on a higher level.....
no room at the INN?? take em out back and shoot them, plenty of room then....computer selected by crimes......clean the prisons, then clean the streets.....
I BEEN to Attica, Lorton, Walpole, too damn many of them MAX wards....hated going there, seems like every damn prison in NY state too....
security systems install, test, calibrate....bunch of crap you ask ME, I used to be fairly liberal...untill visiting THOSE joints.....

I apologize for that description. I was trying to explain that this is a safe neighborhood, and not much crime, and I did a poor job. Being snooty is not my thing. This is actually my first experience in an "upscale" neighborhood. I married very late in life, as did my wife, and this is just where we ended up when we combined modest households.
Again, I'm sorry for the wording.
FWIW, the cookie remark did make me chuckle.

Well, I'm glad you did laugh Again, I meant no offense to you or what you believe in. I seem to have a bad habit of not clearly writing what I feel for me and what I feel for everyone.
I, personally, feel I have no use for a gun. I have used them but I just don't see it helping me in any situation. I'm sure there are times when that would be handy, I just don't think I would be in those situations enough to warrant it.
And don't worry about your wording. God knows I can't speak or write clearly, haha.

As seen above, Let's get to the root of the problem. Gun carrying Americans don't kill people. We know what our rights are, and mine is to carry a gun/weapon. Unless you present a threat to me or mine, you'll never know I have it. Even if you do present a threat, I'm going to do my absolute best to defuse the situation so that you don't know that I have it.
Let's face it boys and girls, guns don't kill people, idiots kill people.
I also think that Americans are jumping off the deep end buying up all the arms and ammunition they can afford. The American public WILL NOT let that dumbass so called president put any more gun laws into effect.
I really don't have much hope for this country any more, we haven't had good, strong leadership in many, many years. But, as we all know, the president doesn't run this country, big business does.
Those that feel so strongly about this, I urge you to get all the education you can get, and write those in D.C. that represent you, seriously, I do!!!
I love this forum, good, strong, bullheaded, intelligent, Corvette loving people
It's gun owners like you that don't scare me. I may be weary finding out you have a gun (on you), but that feeling wouldn't last long assuming you are trustworthy and genuine (and I'm sure I would figure that out fast).
My ex's father loved his guns. You would never know it, except I heard he used to compete in a lot of outdoorsman competitions (including some shooting competitions). He never flung them around, rubbed them in your face or anything like that. In fact, the last time I was at his house (her family lived in Montana) he showed me just how extensive his collection was: a full walk in closet Didn't quite expect that, but like I said, he never abused the power.
The public has a bad habit of jumping to conclusions. They automatically think all guns are bad because a few people miss used them or some psycho finally went off the deep end.
Let's face it boys and girls, guns don't kill people, idiots kill people.
Let's face it boys and girls, guns don't kill people, idiots kill people.
EXACTLY
And we've all discussed this before. About 2/3 of the population are idiots.
With all these idiots potientially carrying guns around i really don't like those odds.

I actually wanted to go to law school after finishing my engineering degree. I think its a very interesting profession. It takes a lot of smarts to debate a point of view effectively.
