Yes, I cut it about 4" wide and then bolted a piece of metal with a bend in it, to tie the two sections together, just behind the a/c cond.....down lo in the flat section of the support, I also reverse hinged the hood, using hinges from a Lumina Mini van hood, and I made my own SS hood pin setup with bolts and pins from West Marine....I use a wood stick to hold the hood up.....
