While I was digging through a bunch of no longer needed C3 suspension parts, I noticed I've got several of the halfshaft outer flanges. No big deal, until I noticed one that is a 9/10ths scale part. WTH? I'm assuming this is just an orphan part that ended up in one of my parts boxes, and not any early Corvette part. I'm under the impression that all the flanges are common throughout the years, correct?

no, they're not all the same, different u joint sizes have different flanges and the early ones C2 are different from the late ones

Early & late one, same u joint size

It looks like the flanges are different thicknesses. Is that the case? Would the thin one also shorten the overall length of the shaft and flanges? I am asking because I need to shorten my half shafts slightly for tire clearance.
