Has anyone done their own installation of a convertible top and frame? I was thinking of doing the one on my skylark but after seeing one done on TV I am having second thoughts.

Last year I did one on the Miata, that was a easy bolt on, BUT like the top I got off the internet from the same supplier, it don't FIT right, and there is nothing about the install that can change either one of them....the Miata top is scant on the driver's side window, it's way up by a inch or so, and too close on the top/rear corner where the canvas wraps around....there is NO amount of adjustment to take up for that shit....

now on the VETTE, it's just the fucking OPPOSITE, it hangs a inch too LO on the top of the windows so the gaskets can't seal with the windows misadjusted to clear the top when closing the doors....

over the years of owning various convertibles, I have found the overall execution of replacement tops to be very wanting, QC in that industry is just stupid....no way in hell I can become convinced the frames are all that much different from each other, just NOT POSSIBLE for the INCHES of measure I am referring to,.....and it's been a bug for a LONG TIME< decades even....

the mobile trim guy that did the '72 vette top did a quick measure, and said the 'new top' will not fit right....but so I got it for 160 bux....wasted money, should have got one that cost 500 bux and had the same problem.....seriously acid comment....the damn things LOOK well made, no complaint on the over all quality, but when shit don't line up for over a INCH, there is a problem....

I have never done a A or B body top, watching him do the vette, I can do it myself next time....

monkey see monkey dooooo....:smash::surrender::thumbs:
