I posted this over there, but I trust you guys more so give me some feedback. I would kind of like a shorty or mid-length header so I don't have to worry about clearance and some of my other super-secret bits and pieces to be revealed later. But I would like to hear what you guys have, seeing (pictures) would be even better. So far the consensus is Hooker super comps are the way to go. Couple pics look pretty fair but I still have my suspicions about clearance. My car is LOW.
CF link for reference

Doug Thorley and stage 8 bolts. Only issue is that they weigh a bit more, and I have asked them if they would consider building a set from Ti. "No," came the answer. George

My Hooker sidemount headers hit the steering box so that needed a BFH ... I'm glad I bought stainless so there was no coating to worry about.... these F$%ing expensive headers also hit the frame on the passenger side - I am not sure if it's the Energy Suspension poly engine mounts that (maybe??) raise the engine a tad ???? It's not much, maybe 1/16" and it would be perfect - maybe more BFH :smash:

The cheap knockoff headers that I bought for my C6 fit perfectly fine, $700 shipped, half of what the Hookers cost me.... well ok, nothing wrong with spending $1400 on Hookers I guess

Ground clearance is NOT and issue with shorties or mid length headers anyways.... best advice I can give you: buy stainless

Do a search for Schoenfeld Headers.....#151 'chassis headers' is what I have, they are not as lo as a stock oil pan, clear my rack input, don't overheat the starter, and fine with the oil filter.....

I dunno about various materials, mine are the cheepies for 150 bux or so....

and been on there for years as a DD....

The Hooker sidemounts I have came with a pre-installed dent for clearance around the steering box. Good thing- the JET_HOT coating would not have liked me putting a dent there.

I'm a fan of dynomax, equal length, ceramic coated so they look good still, and good ground clearance.

I remember discussing my purchase with one of the Schoenfeld family, and he said something very interesting.....about engines liking equal length headers so each cylinder see the same loading.....but RACE cars, like unequal length headers and do better overall performance.....broader torque curve??

That was a very interesting comment, and makes some sense.....just thinking about it.....

the ones I have are unequal length, and the torque curve is broader than my ex's ass....

Hooker super comps i think if i remeber rite they set about 2 1/2" lower the the frame id have to go measure to be 100% pos.

Umm wonder why/how Hooker lost the "mold". I have a set of Hooker BB side exhaust purchased around 1977 that fit my 69 427 with no problem. I do have to put spark plug boot heat insulators around the 1 and 3 plugs, but that is about it. No dent for the steering box. The #8 pipe even clears the A/C evaporator box. I believe they have 2 1/8" primaries

Maybe the "mold" they used in the 70's never made it across the pacific to the new factory ..... LOL

As a side note, our cars do not have a consistent dimensional build from the factory. Take a header, or door, or bumper off one car that fit perfectly and something may just bump on the receiving car. That said, many parts on the car were made adjustable. So before you whack on a header to put a dent into it, try simply to slide over what ever is hitting. This may just work.

PS, I want TI headers. Can anyone make these? George
