i just got a kit of relays plugs fuse holders etc to upgrade my headlight wiring.
daniel stern sent some quality components.
i bought some 12 gauge wire copper with silver cladding very nice stuff from a marine electronics manufacturer.
now the question, are crimp connectors with the heat shrink already on the fitting good enough? i have a high quality crimper, or should i solder the connections? it looks like it shows 4 leads coming off the main lead, can i solder or crimp off the main lead and that one 12 gauge wire will be sufficient ?
this should improve the lighting i have 2 h4 hella lights with 70/65 orsham? bulbs and 2 12v 100 watt aircraft landing lights. I'm hoping this will light up my life.:drink:

MY only observation is that over the years, I have noted the quality of any crimp connector has fallen into oblivion.....What I used some years ago was thick enough on the interior metal that when crimped, it got the wire GOOD, today it's so easy to pull the wire right out, and THAT is not good practice....SO, I go to wire nutz, or solder connections, and then a wire nut or tape and a tie wrap....I have found that newer heat shrink wrap don't seem as good as in the past either.....for ME, it's solder ALL connections....in fact not a bad idea to solder the wire tips on to the connectors on the plugs.....lovely kettle of fish.....

i feel lucky as Bethany electronics is close to me they do very high end electronics for boats, ships and military. i believe the connectors etc surpass the crap at the local auto zone or home depot. it may be worth trying it. i figure if they use silver clad copper wire, they wouldn't mess around with cheap connectors. i think i will go over monday and see what connectors they have. one guy that i talked to when i got the wire said if i gave them the diagram and measurements they could make me a harness, that may be a good option as i have seen some of the installs they do.

the daniel stern connectors are very good quality, and bethany had some nice crimp fittings with shrink wrap on them, i soldered all the connectors though. bethany also had teflon shrink wrap , that stuff is amazing it really seals stuff up. slow progress but it is getting there. these lights should make night time driving fun:shocking::shocking:

fired the lights up this morning and with 1 or 2 minor tweaks they work flawlessly. apparently there are better lights than what i got but it is hard to imagine anything being much better, i think they would have to be nuclear.it was not a tough job at all i took my time and even with the tremor in my hands that i deal with it worked out well. and i highly recommend the modification.plus its just very cool having aircraft lights in your hi- beams.:trumpet:
