Hello...my name is Todd. I own a pest control business here in sunny Orlando, Florida. I own a "resto-mod" 78 Vette coupe and a stock 92 vette coupe. I drag race my 78 on occasion and a racing friend told me about this forum...no help needed at this time, just passing thru and wanted to say hi. I will also be glad to offer any input in the future... I have fully restored and modified my 78 by myself over 2-3 years...it is now done except for the rack and pinion steering which I hope to install over the course of the year. I have done all the engine/transmission work/installation myself (less machine shop help). All new suspension, drivetrain, rear end and gears, steering and joints, EVERYTHING:nuts:...hope to talk with you soon...DDBS

Welcome to VetteMOD :hi:

About the rack install: a new tech paper with lots of photos and details about the R&P conversion will be added some time today :thumbs:

Hey, Welcome to the motley crew of the Flying Dutchmen.....

I too did a rack conversion of my own workup, some 7 years ago, using the '92 Grand Am rack a CTO, same as the kits out.....mucho simpler and easier and cheeper to do your own install though....you can find many posts on the topic, I think Karstens' install was welded in, I just made a bracket that bolts in, they are not rocket science to build...just need pick up the primary loading point on the bottom/rear of the mounting clamp as your lateral triangulation into the bottom of the frame...eliminates ALL twist, and it can be done with 1/8" steel not the super over done heavy 1/4" crap in the kits.....also using just two input universal joints....

I did all mine from a junkyard....

:waxer::rofl:

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome...looks like a nice place to talk about these great cars...here are some pics:

Well, I didn't choose the color...it was that way when I bought it...let's just call it RED...for now...GATOR NATION!:quote:...Bulldogs are ok as well, they just couldn't stop T.Tebo...:crylol:...DDBS

Hey-Todd...glad you made it over here! I'll be seeing you soon at the track. Nice pics of your 78. Don't forget to post a few of your truck when it's done.

That's the vega steering wheel that no one seems to like, doesn't look too bad if you ask me. There are a lot worse out there (riced out modern yucky steering wheels :D )

They also put these steering wheels in the early model Camaros...I should know...there was one of these in a 76 I used to have:flash:...I hate the steering wheel and I use the word "HATE" here...I haven't had the time to put a new Grant wheel in...but believe me, it's coming soon...I will post pics at that time...I also have an S10 race truck that's almost done...Red mentioned it in an earlier reply above...I will show a few pics of it when I get it done... it's having a new 9" Ford rear end built for it right now and should be ready to roll in about 2 weeks...:yahoo:...thanks guys...talk w/you soon...DDBS

79 LT Camaro, Swiss car....same wheel. This is a 100% original, not molested car. Belonged to an old geezer, 1 owner. Even had little bags with moth balls placed everywhere to keep the pests out.
