ok i have a 82 crossfire injection, missfire as i call it. Went to start it and the fuel pump didnt kick o, first problem. So i replaced tested pump before install everything was good, got it back together and still no fuel. So a friend mentioned a fuel pump relay, i ordered one and after waiting five days for it i installed the relay, well you guessed right still no fuel. so in a complete frustration pulled the pump back out and retested, it was good. i then pulled out the trusty volt meter and checked everything now this is where it gets weird. when everything is plugged in no voltage, unplug the harness from the pump itself and voltage 7.56 to be exact, then continued to unplug from the tank harness and it raised slightly. but once everything is plugged in not a thing. please any input would be greatly appreciated. im so frustrated.:banghead:

First off, Welcome to the motley crew of the Flying Dutchmen.....

on your problem there, it is very common for any sensitive voltmeter to read stray 'leakage' voltages on some open circuit, it is essentially a false reading due to moisture or some mineral build up/dirt in a old circuit....so put the pump back and hook it up as we know it's good.....I am not all that familiar anymore with the '82 fuel pump setup, been too long but for sure that relay has to close for it to run....sounds like you maybe have a blown fuse?? I know there is one, and it probably runs the computer too, firing the injectors, that is the basic circuit GM used for the early DPFI setups also....

do you have any wiring diagrams, preferable the GM shop manuals???

if not, maybe someone can scan one here...that would be good to keep, obviously....

First of all check the oil pressure switch. It's next to the distributor, has a large black cap and a rubber connector.

Follow the tan/white, blue and orange wires on this schematic. You'll see the pump (120) and the pressure switch.

One other thing, does the pump never run or does it run shortly with the ignition on? The system is designed so that when you turn the ignition to ON and don't start the pump will run for a couple of seconds (via the relay, ECM controlled) and shut off. The pump will not run again until you8 crank the engine. When you don't crank the engine but turn the ignition OFF and then ON again the pump won't always run either, you have to wait a certain amount of time (I think it was 30 secs) and then turn the ign ON again to make the pump run for a few secs.

Please confirm if the pump runs for a couple of secs with Ign ON or not.

I have checked all fuses they were good i do have a wiring diagram and ive checked all the wires. now as far as the pump and when its installed no it does not turn on at all, and call me dumb but where is the oil pressure switch located? ive looked there and im sure it would smack me in the face but i dont see what your talking about.

OP sw is behind the dizzy under it to the driver's side a bit....typically a unit about 1.5" diameter with some terminals on it...wires....

take a look at the fuel pump relay on that hot side, shown in red/Orange going to the battery...see that you have a steady 12 there, no matter what/who....

This is it:

Can't miss it, threads into the china wall (vertical oil passage) on the rear of the block, passenger side next to distributor. Dig around in the wire clutter there, it's probably under there.
