USA China/Japan you mean.....they named a town that once in Japan some years ago, just for that reason....

:stirpot::harhar:

Hey, just for kicks, what sort of fittings do the ends need? (Just thinking of other possible uses for that filter.) I had to return a filter the other day because I couldn't tell it was made in China (it was a brand name filter) until after I got home and ripped it out of the packaging. I took it back for a refund. I just don't want to risk a fire on my Corvette on a third world gas filter.

You guys blaspheme that which may very well be the last USA auto part made? Shame on you.:stirpot:

Nice find! Go buy the rest of the case and sell them to us!
Funny we were just talking about that tonite. It's real hard to avoid but I'm going to be more vigilant. I was going to buy some cool little LED lawn ornaments today but decided against it. I don't need 'em. I didnt realize it until today but my wife has made a point for some time of not buying ANYTHING for her shop made in china. Her suppliers now know this and don't offer her those products. She's had enough experience to know that she doesn't need crap in her shop.
This email happened to come to me yesterday from a friend:

"I WAS BUYING FOOD THE OTHER DAY AT THE LOCAL MARKET.
ON THE LABEL OF SOME PRODUCTS IT SAID FROM CHINA.FOR EXAMPLE THE" OUR FAMILY" BRAND OF THE MANDARIN ORANGES SAYS RIGHT ON THE CAN FROM CHINA I WAS SHOCKED!!

SO FOR A FEW MORE CENTS I BOUGHT THE LIBERTY GOLD BRAND OR THE DOLE IS FROM CAL .

TAKES FOREVER JUST TO BUY FOOD AND DO LABEL READING ! !

Are we ( Americans / Canadians ) as dumb as we appear --- or --- is it that we just do not think?

While the Chinese, knowingly and intentionally, export inferior and even toxic products and dangerous toys and goods to be sold in the American markets, the media wrings its hands and criticizes the Government for perceived errors.

Yet 70% of ( Americans / Canadians ) believe that the trading privileges afforded to the Chinese should be suspended.

Well, duh..why do you need the government to suspend trading privileges?

SIMPLY DO IT YOURSELF, PEOPLE !!

Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says 'Made in China ' or 'PRC' (and that now includes Hong Kong ), simply choose another product, or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products, and you will be equally amazed at what you can do without.

Who needs plastic eggs to celebrate Easter? If you must have eggs, use real ones and benefit some American farmer. Easter is just an example, the point is do not wait for the government to act. Just go ahead and assume control on your own.

THINK ABOUT THIS, If 200 million ( Americans / Canadians ) refuse to buy just $20 each of Chinese goods, that's a billion dollar trade imbalance resolved in our favor...fast! !

The downside? Some North American businesses will feel a temporary pinch from having foreign stockpiles of inventory. Wahhhhhhhhhhhh

The solution? Let's give them fair warning and send our own message. Most of the people who have been reading about this matter are planning on implementing this on June 4, and continue it until July 4. That is only one month of trading losses, but it will hit the Chinese for 1/12th of the total, or 8%, of their American exports. Then they will at least have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and lawlessness were worth it.

! Remember, June 4 to July 4.

EVEN BETTER. . . START NOW.

Send this to everybody you know. Let's show them that we are
North Americans and NOBODY can take us for granted.

If we can't live without cheap Chinese goods for one month out of our lives, WE DESERVE WHAT WE GET!

Pass This on"

Mike,
It's the EXACT same o-ring fitting as my 81 P/S pressure hose to pump connection, whatever THAT is.

Most likely either a 14mm x 1.5 O ring, 16mm x 1.5 o ring or 18mm x 1.5 o ring seal. Commonly used on fuel filters, steering pumps and fuel rails and what not from 81?? and up. The filter is most likely a 16mm x 1.5 size.

Well, I can't duplicate that end, but if I could find some tubing with that end I could always cut and reflare the other end. If I'm not being too rude or nosey, what's the ballpark price of that filter?

Lars' fuel line paper has some good info in it on fittings and filters. I ended up using a filter Lars recommended similar to the one above on my '73 (AC 481). I used 5105 fittings from Pure Choice Motorsports which convert from the O-ring fitting for the filter to the 3/8" inverted flare fitting I used when making up my fuel line.

Here's a link to the Pure Choice fitting. It is the fitting in the upper right of the photo: http://www.purechoicemotorsports.co...tegory_id=132/home_id=97/mode=prod/prd184.htm

Rock Auto was $20.00

Bird, watch changing that filter- they have a tendency to rust to the line. And the system also retains a touch of pressure.

I saw a kit at a tool supply today that said it would make all the flares used on heater hoses and fuel lines. Was just a bit (read lots!) pricey,

As a footnote, I did my 100,000 mile tune on the 03 Silverado. New plugs, fuel filter, cleaned the MAF, the throttle body, and the K&N. Purrs like a kitten.
New Bilsteins and fuel pump should be here Friday, then I'm good for my vacation later this month.
Alignment shop did good. My 65MPH shimmy is history. Amazing what too much toe will do.

RUST? What's that? Is that like the snow thingy I hear about?

Oh c'mon, don't rub it in .......... you'll make me come down there.....to live.
I'm just changin' my frame from a cracked rusty one. Hope to get it done before the snow flies again.....
