How do you remove the speedo needle off of a 78?

And are the 140mph speedos worth anything?

Having been on there a long time, it comes off a bit more difficult....but all I have ever done is fold my fingertip/thumb tip under the backside of it, and pull hard, it pops right off, careful to not bend it over any, straight off, it gives all at once so expect it to be in your fingers....

I work on them on the kitchen table with nice lighting and a mag glass if necessary.....

I found out the hard way that my 160 stock speedo in the '72 is worth about nothing above 80 mph....dead accurate untill then, and for some reason it goes nutz, totally worthless, in spite of any 'net published tables'.....

I just backing off this 'issue' now with other fish to fry....
I beleive Mr. Garmin.....

I dunno anything about your specific reference to that 140 conversion for the old 80 mph one.....but can't see why it wouldn't react the same...same mechanism...

:D

Thanks guys.

Btw MrVette, if you've ever flown into LAX and seen the thick cloud of smog that hovers above LA, you'd understand why there are so many Greenie Weenies in CA.

Don't take your blue sky for granted.

LOL...you should have seen the pics that my buddies took in Beijing.... LA is clean compared to that....

No, I am not a greenie .... but I do believe that some of the stuff we do here and all the waste is not necessary... different topic though.....

Totally OT to this thread, but I have heard many other explanations than the standard issue one each weenie line on the topic.....been since early 80's I was through LAX, seemed fine to me, spent more time in SC and SJ, and SF....there I was on the ground for some time, not just a touch and go....

My senior project in college was on global warming. Wrote a 27 page paper on it. I have all that useless info in my head. Ships are the number 1 contributor, so if you buy fuel efficient 4 cyl imports... you're harming the environment cuz they have to ship them over here! Haha.

Cows are also a big contributor, and so are cars. Yes global warming is exaggerated, but if you think you can spew whatever you want out of your tailpipe without later having to breathe it in, you're in la la land.

I made more hp than anyone on DC dyno day... with a leaking HG & intake gasket... and you could still breathe in the room while my car was on the dyno. Can't say that for all of the cars that were there. The ZR1 & the Z06 don't seem to have any problem making hp with cats either.

Enk, at the chance of ever further pissing off some weenies here I going to open another thread on this, and copy paste your post, as to remind me of all the specifics....
