I would like to powder coat my 82's frame and polish all the aluminum suspension parts going on it. So any of you done it or how much would it cost to do it? Or am I better off just painting the frame? I have two color combinations I have in mind for the car, white over silver two tone or autumn red over dark claret and also considered painting the frame autumn red and suspension dark claret and if white over silver frame black and suspension polished.

I"m lucky to have a industrial PC place nearby, and he charges not much unless it's a special rush job....he will blast a ton of crap in one day, and then shoot all one color on a bunch of jobs, he has a oven large enough to bake ANYTHING....should see the shit he processes through there, on back of 18 wheelers....:crap:

so a couple small shit things for ME is nothing, that's just lunch money....

the old man who owned the joint, sold it to the wife/kid who used to be the painter, lucky kid, and he still there busting his ass off and wife does the books, nice to see a young family with kids running a business like that and being a success....

:bump::thumbs:

I have a quote for $800.00 to do the frame, control arms, trailing arms and all brackets for mounting the bumpers. It's a 1968. includes sandblasting, coating and wrapping for transporting. I'm in MA, the shop is 30 miles away in CT. I drop off and pick up. Just to give you a idea.

Sometime ago I had everything on the 69 blasted, powder coated first with a rust protective coating and then done in semi flat black. I recall it being less than 2000 at an industrial coating factory just a block up the street form Corvette Mike. And by everything I mean everything from the frame to the hinges to the braces under the dash. All the suspension, all the under dash brackets, anything that was steel and looked even a bit dirty, went to the coaters. Told him put it in line when it gives me the beast price.

This approached worked out great - he blasted everything and refinished it all in much less time that if I had wire bushed, dipped it in degreaser, and then took spray paint to it. Allowed more time for other parts of the car. Everything came back wrapped in paper and protected. I was like a kid at Christmas unwrapping for a week.

There is also a fantastic metal polisher & chrome shop in Santa Ana. Sihilling. Actually, he does not do the plating but he does all the prep and polishing. That is the real work anyway, not dipping a bumper in a vat of chemicals. His number 714 543 7051. Charles is his name or the manager, Lorina.

Good Luck, George

I got my '76 frame and the front cross member parts blasted and coated for $347.
