How to pull out a car from a frozen lake... Russian style.
An empty SUV falls into a frozen lake after cracking the ice with its weight.
The Russians on the scene come up with an ingenious way to save the car.

As a Mojave resident I'm amazed at the strength of the surrounding ice! Did the SUV melt the ice beneath, CAT's or some such, or was it just bad luck with a thin spot?

Absolutely amazing....

I think they are saying in Russian, "I should have never let the wife use the car" :club:

Makes me wonder if not a body/bodies in the car.....:flash::(

Why doe the ice that bears the load of the car (right next to the hole), support the weight of the car? Also, what anchors the little stump that they are winching the rope onto?

thick enough ice, I"d imagine, maybe the pole goes down to the river/lake bottom, if it was a river, I"d imagine some current in that spot caused thin ice....years ago some friends live in Mini/Saint Minnisota and a local lake of course froze every winter, but he mentioned that the locals typically lost several cars per year due to driving out for cutting a hole in the ice with a chain saw......for fishing..... one of the best laughs of my life upon hearing that explanation.....:pprrtt::1st:

Window on the driverside is open. He escaped.

I think they really outdid themselves retrieving it. Amazing.

However I would think the car is a total loss.
