project at hand complete 1990 tpi engine in a 82

forseen issues

VSS signal while still having a cable to drive my original odometer. I also am going to use after market digital gauges but odometer is mechanical.

Use a 7727 or 7730 mounted in same location as the 82 ecm. I think my 82 harness can run the 90 tpi with a coulpe of changes like eliminating one of the IAC connectors, adding new injector pigtail, but what else?

how to re-pin the ecm for newer style connectors?

will a 7727 or 7730 use other inputs that the 82 ecm use to see?

This must be california compliant so need everything right down to check engine light working.

Throw away the stock ECM and use the engine bay mounted C4 ECM. Much easier. The 82 ECM location is the suck!!! You'll have to do a crap load of cutting and splicing. If you delete the ECM back there you can pull out the ENTIRE CFI harness. All you need is that funky translucent connector that connects the boy harness to the ECU harness. It's near the parking brake. Cut that off the old CFI harness and you can use the piniouts for the fuel pump and some other stuff. You don't need anything else. The CEL, FP, ECM power and some other stuff is all in that connector.

I do have a complete 90-92 camaro TPI harness. Is there anyway to go through the door jamb on a c3 like a 3rd gen f-body does and then just use a under dash 7727 ecm?

Does the vettes ecm care if it doesn't see inputs found in the 90 vette aside from engine inputs? Or would I basically convert the harness to more of a stand alone system?

I am also considering a fuse box relocation because of the pain to reach the fuse box on this car

TT is right. Just use the 90 ECM. Pull the harness and unpin all of the unneeded wires. Once you get the unneeded wires gone it won't seem nearly as bad.

On the vss issue, Dakota Digital makes a pass thru vss so you can still have a mechanical speedo.
