I really detest V-belt accessory systems and I use that term lightly. Anyways I decided to make some changes and add a serpentine drive from 84 corvette.

I got the complete system for 130.00 and while I like the integral power steering resovoir, I didn't care much for the a/c compressor mounting setup. Made a change and bought a 35.00 86 corvette a/c compressor bracket which is far less complicated to mount and mated the two and it came out fine.

How does it all fit? basically like it was designed for the car. There are no clearance issues whatsoever, of course you will need to mod your power steering lines & possibly the lower and upper radiator hose.

I have to keep all smog equipment since I live in california but I would think if you detailed all of this it would look really nice on any year vette. Keep in mind electric cooling fans are necessary now. I also mount a 90's 3/4 ton van radiator in the car and will try and mount 4 gen f-body LT1 cooling fan setup.

I know I will be shunned by purists for whatever reason but for me I enjoy changing drive belt in a minute verses a hour, much cleaner looks, easier to service parts of the system.

I also choose a 84 vette air cleaner for the car since I have a L88 hood and the original air cleaner would no longer be smog legal because of the hole in the top of it. I also like the 84 air cleaner since it covers all the vacuum lines etc etc. I will have it powder coated when finished or polish it.

Pieced together radiator hose so it would fit the vans straight radiator outlet and the vette

Here is a idea how the LT1 fans will mount. No they won't be plastic tied on, that was just to check how they fit. Haven't come up with a idea on final mounting yet. I do feel once the foam seals are around the radiator and everything hooked up thermostatically my 82 should have no cooling issues at all since this radiator was in a 3/4 ton chevy van and the fans should easily pull enough air.

On that radiator, from a 90's 3/4 ton van, what about it's construction?? what size is the core?? I have a very similar one from a F body V8 I forget the year think it was '89, been using it for 16 years now....works fine, but it's only single row aluminum tubes and 1 1/4 thick.....if yours is the same there is not much to change for me....

on your fans, I bought the Dual Spals, run off a relay, in parallel either on or off, and mounted by some angle aluminum and 1/4-20 bolts/nutz through the back tab of the rad support U clamps/mounts.....going laterally side/side....tied the spals to them, and used aluminum roof flashing material tied to the fans and sealing all around the radiator without being physically tied to it....

since your shroud/fan setup is obviously different, some variation of my mount maybe helpful to you....

:smash::smash::thumbs:

IF you can, it would be nice to change to the '88+ vette compressor, and ditch that R4 thing....they have a terrible reputation....:surrender:

I didn't measure the core size but it must be the same size as the original because it fits right in the original support cushions.

I thought about the denso compressor, downside is my heads are missing one mounting hole. This 82 is a convertible to so I don't expect to use the a/c much anyways, I might eventually do a a/c delete on the car but for now the r4 compressor is just a idler pulley and not charged or anything.

I'm also considering fab'ing a airbox for my L88 hood and make it duct air from the rear of the hood and feed the air cleaner.
