Kalifornia is doomed

Just heard this on Rush's show, article in LA Times. Pack your bags, folks, make sure the last one out turns off the lights.

How's that socialism tasting now??? Dumbasses.

$4.00 a week extra with holding that I get back at tax time will not kill me. Actually, I found it rather ingeneous. The economy has really hit California hard, and it is a well thought out stop gap measure. At least it is not a tax increase.
ALTHOUGH, after electing Arnold after a "recall BS campaign of Gray Davis," Arnold has the SAME problems, has done EXACTLY what Gray Davis proposed, and is JUST as corrupt. I have seen ZERO change in business as usual.

Actually, the odds are better that a tornado would go thru a junk yard, and assemble a 747, but, nice try Gene.

Surely, BUT, you also know I"d get results....ones even YOU be happy with...

Bird, my friend, you need to get the hell out of that country, er, state. If you believe for one ten thousandth of a nanosecond that Kalifornia will be able to cash all the IOUs it's writing, you need medical attention.
If this goes off without a hitch, it will happen again, and again, and again.....

They pulled a stunt like that here too a decade ago, added about a buck to a gallon of gas as a temporary measure to get some more cash in, we still have not had our bucks back. You guys with your extreme left wing politicians like Barry Soetoro are so fucked you don't even know it. It's gonna be just like it's here, Bill, Jack and Joe are gonna be paying for Ahmed, Homeboy and Hector

I KNOW what the problem is. It's just not "PC" to discuss it here in Mexifornia.

Over the years, my old HS buddy that stayed in Texas after his Navy hitch, has met up with many Latin surnamed families, who have been landowners, ranchers and business men for longer than Texas has been a state....and THEY are among the most adamant against this 'new invasion' of anyone.....

No 'accents' there, unless you consider a Texas drawl a accent....

:lol::tomato:

Which is sorta funny to listen to his daughters, both uber highly paid CPAs, BTW.....Ken's wife, Lilly, is from Scotland and not lost a bit of that brogue, he is from DC same as me, and so to hear his daughters talk growing up in Forth Worth, is sorta funny, every once in a while they will 'drop a Lilly' in their speech patterns.....:lol:

I have to say I'm with Bird on this one. A little extra withholding doesn't bother me and if you read the article closely, there is even an easy out. You just change the number of deductions on your withholding and you can reverse it pretty easily.

I also agree that it's a fairly clever stop gap. Essentially the state is taking out a short term, interest free loan.

Where I disagree is the cause. In a nutshell, those of us in the Peoples Republic of Kahlifonia have made it impossible to raise taxes or even agree on a budget without a 2/3 majority. I doubt you could get 2/3 agreement on the type of beer to drink on the redneck forum. Further exacerbating the issue is that because of the massive distrust for politicians there have been a number of voter mandated budget appropriations and rules so in shortfall years, they can't balance the budget and they can't raise taxes without approval from the voters which isn't currently forthcoming.

It is fairly funny that Gray Davis got recalled for wanting to do the same things that Arnold is doing now.

I'm with TT on one thing though. There is no such thing as a temporary increase on anything. They raised the bridge tolls here around 2000 to $2 temporarily to pay for something or other. The voters approved that too. Four years after the temporary toll increase was to expire, the tolls are $4.

Time to get off my soapbox and get back to work.

Honestly, theoretically, this could work. It would help Cal (what am I missing with the K's?) get out of trouble, at least for a little while.
But what I do have a problem with is them giving the money back. I highly doubt that's going to happen. As far as I see it, that's easy money and they won't give it back especially if it's true with what Mike said about needing 2/3 majority to approve tax hikes.
What I fear is other states seeing this idea and running with the 'loan' program. "Why not?" I'm sure is being asked all over the place.

(what am I missing with the K's?)

Our movie star, Austrian born "Governator" says "Kalifornia" with a thick accent.

That, and being SO socialist bent, like Pelosi, Boxer, Finestein, et al.....the joint is known as the Soviet Union state....hence the deliberate change to the K to emphasize the commie aspects of their big city politics....

which all precedes Schwartznegger by a couple decades ....

Wow, guys. I'm sorry if this offends you guys, but you're going to get what you deserve.

Gary, in the free state of Nevada

No worries man. I can't speak for the rest but you didn't offend me. The state that we find ourselves in offends me (no pun intended). Worse yet, we really aren't doing anything about it. I guarantee that we'll be at a budget impasse again next year.

Greg had an interesting point and surprisingly I think it probably will work. A large part of the state's income is based on taxes on the top tier related to stock market winnings. Last fiscal year, there weren’t any and the state coffers suffered. Next year will probably be better.

And Gary, you guys need more biotechs in NV so I can get a job and move there. I'm very enthusiastic about your low taxes.

How do you feel about sand? Remember, of all the states, they chose Nevada to test the A-Bomb because there was nothing to damage.

I think its a good idea I always owe at the end of the year.
( more dedctions are better ) And Its better then not doing any thing.

And speaking of free state I had to go to vegas last week to check on bussiness and every thing a did (hotels, dinners, every thing ) Had a tax
so whats free?

By the way for those that go to vegas, Try top of he world restaurant at the stratosphere. From 1000 ft up you can see how big vegas really is. The resturant makes a full rotation in the time it takes to eat.

I never get tried of it.
