My ex disposed of the keys to my Corvette while she had me out of the house. I was able to scrounge up a spare ignition key but no gas cap key. How can I defeat one of these ratcheting style locking caps?

Thanks in advance for your help!

PS - The old girl fired right up, even after sitting for over 8 months. I was only trying to build oil pressure, never touched the throttle and on the third priming try it caught and ran like a champ! She is eager to go!

OR if you have an overwhelming desire to be exceptionally neat, a 1/4 drill. Right thru the center of the lock and it magically opens.

Drain gas and oil .... Who knows what she poured in there ..... From what you posted It sounds like she doesn't like you .... Lol

No - she does not like me at all. That's OK though, that's her Karma, not mine. IMO she is not technically inclined enough to sugar the gas or anything like that, plus the car is very dusty from body work, she would not want to get dirty.

The 'Vette ran fine. The gas is old and half sour but she still fired right up.

Time to get the body work finished and get the car back on the road!

A couple of cotter keys opened up can provide a raker and a tension key to pick that toy lock in moments. Wide cotter key for the tension wrench and a small stiff one to work the pins.

Or a locksmith can do it for just a callout.
