My best friend has a stock 1990 6 speed vette and mines a 90 automatic and stock as well. How would my engine stand up to a 75hp kit and using it a lot? What would be the 1/4 mile difference with this? Originally how much of a difference was there between the automatic vettes and the stick shift vettes?

Will the 700r4 stand up to this being used a lot? How about the dana36?

I really have no desire to do engine/exhaust mods to beat him though. Just want a quik way to constantly be able to beat him.

I would drop that tranny outta there, and buy a thing called a sun shell, and it's called the BRUTE, there is a modification in that where they take out a copper thrust washer and use a torrington....that and a rebuild kit, and some other modifications, along with a TRANS GO shift kit....maybe a new converter.....

TimAT has been tolerant enough to coach me through a rebuild of one to similar specs just in the last couple weeks, installing it into a motor home/camper...for the overdrive....so Tim is the real expert....but that's my initial take on it....

The trans was supposedly rebuilt a few months before I bought it. Fluid always is nice red color and it seems to shift really nice.

The biggest problem is the heads and the hypereutectic pistons. Even if 75 isn't all that much of a shot the heads have very thin decks from the factory and they warp like crazy if the engine overheats. Add nitrous to it and it maybe asking for trouble.

I know nothing of the engine capabilities....

but since it has been rebuilt, maybe a TG kit and to be sure you got the good sun shell in there....I would assume you have a good ten vane pump right from the git go....

but talk to TimAT...he is on detail right now, so dunno when/if he can jump in...

send him a PM/email??

I have ran NOS on a lot of cars and a couple TPI motors. You can go 100HP shot "WET" system and have 0 problems IF you set the thing up correct. The thing will live a long time on spray as long as you do not have too much timing in it, let it over rev, spray it anytime other than WOT and make sure you have GOOD fuel pressure.

If you are serious about using it and want to make sure it live, they sell all kinds of safety nets for the system like fuel press switch, RPM window switch, knock detectors, etc. Spend the money and buy the items to make it fool proof. Keep in mind 75HP will just give you a taste, you WILL want more. We put a kit on a friends 350 TPI IROC (forged pistons) started out at 100HP and by the end of summer was running 250HP jets in it.

75HP will give you probably 3 tents in street trim in the quarter UNLESS you can leave off the spray and get it to stick it will give you a lot quicker ET.
