Maybe we should start a new thread

Can it be general stupidity or does it have to be eBay stupidity? eBay means I'll have to look online, general stupidity means I just walk out of my house out here

DUDE! - Don't you know that some eager ebayer is lurking in the shadows, waiting for the last 30 seconds of the auction so he can get the best price on that RARE, VALUABLE USED SHORT BLOCK???

Stupid Money."Insane $$ for something that is way beyond reasoning."

...a few years ago I sold a legit #351 block from a 67 427/435 that needed a sleeve to a restorer for $6K....if the pad stamp is legit and considering what an LS-6 Chevelle is worth this one will probably sell.

...the guy with the L-88 Corvette can always come down some, Tony Delorenzo`s black/black L-88 convertible sold last year for $450K with a restamped motor/trans/diff and non original fenders/quarters/gas tank (no tank sticker). I could have bought it 5 years ago when it was in Switzerland for $75K...I had the $$ I just didn`t have the balls.

How the hell is it worth that much when it's not even approaching being original?

NOWyou understand whatSTUPID MONEYreally means.;)

I guess if you have what some oil sheikh wants you can get your price for it.:clobbered:

I'm with you bird - this shit is beyond my comprehension. I work hard for my nickels and dimes. The equivalent of a cash house payment for a car makes no sense to me.

Then again this brings up the topic of perspective.

I spoke to a young man one day and he looked at my house and said "You are rich". I said really? He said yeah - look, you got a nice house 2 cars and a work truck. All I could see was car and mortgage payments. He came from apartment style low income housing, all he could see was luxury....

Different reality for different people....

enough of me getting all philosophical.

I think I get it, the car's worth more because it was extensively and successfully raced throughout Europe? *Read* Thrashed all over Europe. I guess that explains why the drive train and body panels are all non-original. Does that make mine worth similar cash - thrashed and non-original?:lol:

NO...it was raced in Germany for one year 1970, my car built by Delorenzo and raced in Germany by the same Curt Wetzel 1971-1972 is the more famous car...in Germany. This one is valuable because it`s a documented L-88 owned by one of the "rock stars" of Corvette racing...it`s also a black/black convert...although the Nabors boys who restored it told me it was a blue car under that black paint...Delorenzo`s father Tony Sr a VP for PR at GM at the time probably had it painted at the factory....
