Looks like I'm in Miami at least until the end of the month (July). anyone around the area up for an adult beverage?

Cocoa is only 40 minutes from here. Great place to meet, right where 520 ends is a parking lot and the beach, there are two restaurant bars with live music... next Saturday ????

Linda gave me a free pass for the weekend....

so it depends on which way the wind blows....

so to keep a eye on the weather.....

trouble is, I don't care to drive the vette through any more hurry cain type storms....:gurney:

I actually meant NEXT weekend, not this weekend..... I'd like to give others like red or MrBlue time to see this.... hopefully they join as well.... it's only a short drive from St Pete (Yellow?).....

Would be great to get a bunch of us together....

BTW, the evening of the 18th (Saturday) a bunch of locals meet at the Hooters here in O-town, the one on Lake Underhill Road, east Orlando.... would be nice to meet you guys in Cocoa and then drive over here to have some fun at Hooters... maybe we can arrange for a Hooters car-wash :yahoo::yahoo:

This week is real tight for me, but I can make Saturday the 18th. Will this be the meet and greet you are planning at Cocoa, Right? If somebody keeps me posted on developments, I'm in.

Only reason I suggested Cocoa is that it's right there on I 95 about 1/2 way to Miami from here, but Orlando or maybe Daytona puts more travel time on Tim, almost a hour .....

My friend from years ago has not been contacted over anything yet, dunno if he is even interested, he kind of a independent cuss, lives alone.....and has some health issues....

:hi:

It's looking like I'll be free on the weekends so any of them will be fine with me. Just let me know when and where. The 18th will be as good as any as long as it works for everyone else.

If everyone planning to meet on the 18th would like to visit Cocoa Beach, I will volunteer to locate a suitable place on the beach where we can start. The beach is only about a 30 minute drive for me, so no biggie. There are probably many restaurant/bars right on the beach, but I can't think of one. Port Canaveral has plenty of nice places, but again; I'm not aware of any on the beach. Remember, the weekends are busy everywhere and the beach and Port are no exception. Orlando is even worse with heavy traffic, so keep that in mind when choosing a meeting location. The beach does have some public access locations, but I am not familiar with them on Cocoa Beach. I'm just thinking out loud now. I'm just throwing this out there for consideration.
Have a good one!

Well, since it is a vette group, how aboue Ecklers there at Titusville???

or did they move....was there for a custom vette show almost ten years ago...I understand Ralph bought the operation back again from whoever nearly destroyed it.....

Eckler's is still in the same location. They bought the building next door and turned it into their show room. The original building is now just a warehouse. You still pick up your parts at the same location on the side of the original building. They do have a large parking area, but it is out in the direct sun and where they had their shows. If there wern't too many of us, they might not mind if we waited inside, but they might not be open all day Saturday.

If we were going to meet out on the beach, it might be better to just meet some place right there. There are plenty of restaurants along 520 on the way to the beach side, also the Merritt Square Mall. It all depends where everyone wants to meet.

Red, it's your back yard, you know the territory far better than most, possible exception of Karsten....

you and he maybe consult?? maybe get hold of Tim and see where in Miami he is staying....

This is the "end" of Hwy 520, there's a parking lot that is paved (the satellite photos must be 3+ years old). See the deck with the umbrellas ? That's a nice place right on the beach, it's a restaurant/bar. Next door is Castaways, another restaurant/bar with live music....parking is $5 ...

If Tim is monitoring this thread, from the north side of Miami the exit for route 520, on I-95 and to Cocoa Beach is about 200 miles. If he is on the south side of Miami, he can add mileage accordingly. The beach is another estimated 12 miles from I-95 on 520. Meeting along 520 is the least distance traveled from Miami. The farther you travel off I-95 the more miles you add on.

The fastest way into East Orlando is the same route 520, only it is about another 30 miles inland to reach it. Orlando covers from East to west an estimated over 60 miles, so there is a lot of territory there. There is a place on the St John's river along 520 we could meet called 'The Lone Cabbage Fish Camp.' It is an estimated 8 miles west on 520, from I-95. They have air boat rides and you can sit at an outdoor table along the river and eat and do whatever. They also have an AC inside with booths and bar. Weekends they are purdy busy, but if there before lunch we could claim a good spot. The down side it is, it is out in the bush between Orlando and Cocoa beach. We could meet there and decide where to go after a lunch.

We haven't heard from Karsten, so I'm sure he has some suggestions. I'm just trying to offer some of my thoughts, since I am somewhat familiar with the area east of Orlando. Before we make any concrete plans, who is definitely going? Are we talking three or four guys, or more? This may have an impact on where we choose to meet. :friends:

Lone Cabbage is worth visiting, you can watch wild gators there....

There's this meeting at Hooters the same day, it's the Hooters on LakeUnderhill Rd, east Orlando....

If we meet in Cocoa we could hang out there, enjoy the bands/beach/sun and then stop at LoneCabbage for refreshments on the way to Hooters...

For all intents and purposes, I'm at the airport in Miami (go figure!:bonkers:) so the access to the freeway is pretty good. And the drive is no deal to me. Just let me know the finer points of where- what exit and road I need to take, and what time-- I'll be there!:hi:
