Man am I worn out. I didn't realize how much CRAP I have accumulated over the years. I am moving on Friday and I have been cleaning my house out for about 2 weeks now. The trash men must think I manufacture the piles of crap I put out for them. Last week it was over 20 of the large contractor bags, the week before that over 30, this week we are somewhere around 20 bags again. Then there is all of the furniture that doesn't "fit" the new decor, all the old stuff has been thrown out, sold or given away. Old printers, scanners, outdated tools, building supplies, dried out cans of paint, you name it I got it. Tomorrow I get the Ryder truck (U-haul screwed me big time) and we load it up. The following day we drive the 2 miles to the new place and unload it all. One of the best parts about the new place is the 2 car garage - the 'Vette will finally be kept indoors!
I gotta go now - the missus is packing up the kitchen and I'll get the fishy eye if I don't get off my butt and pitch in.
Wish me luck!

:tomato: Sympathy and empathy man, sounds like you got a whole fan damily involved....I moved some 1000 miles with two loads/off loads by myself...

it was ragged....early '97 winter, visited Jax Florida here...it was WARM, home not a week and finally got a house offer after TWO years on the market....

took it and then moved into my sister's joint in Pennsylvania...for 6 weeks, settled on his house here in Florida end of May....

except for loading/Unloading it was all me alone...Ryder is my hero, and their truck hauled this '72 vette on a U haul trailer.....a bit of trickery on my part....

:banned::rofl:

my next move is the crematorium....

:rolleyes:

I feel for you man. It is astounding how much crap we accumulate. Before I moved here, I was throwing crap out for months using what I considered the maximum each garbage day that I thought they'd take. I finally ran out of time and rented a truck. That was an additional 2000 pounds of crap. No idea where it all came from and we still had loads of utter crap when we arrived here. I still remember one box that when I opened it, I didn't recognize a single item in it. My wife didn't either. :bonkers:

:rolleyes:

Gene,

I just spit my beer out on the keyboard. Guess I'll have to tell the wife that the cat peed on it. :crylol::lol:

Its been 15 years in this house. I ∂rea∂ moving. 2 ∂ogs. 2 many cats. A house fille∂ with 2 many antiques. Eight glass curio cabinets fille∂ with treasures. 16 bookcases fille∂ with books. 5 are Corvette "paper", not recor∂s. Househol∂ contents of a stuffe∂ 2 car garage that you coul∂ not squeeze a fart in. Detatche∂ 4 car garage with paranoi∂ spare part ∂epartment (what if I cant get 1?), tools r us museum (not use∂ much any more), 4 car lifts. oh my Go∂ what was I thinking? I cannot move. I'm a prisoner in toylan∂. :D

ps I ∂i∂ work for a long time. now nobama wants to take it away

I didn't know anyone else had a "Paranoid spare parts dept." thought I was the only one......

You not the only one...When I moved from Germany back to the US after 25 years I bought a 40ft container,packed it myself. (1 car and all household goods) Itemized every box for customs right down to how many forks! I brought motors, trannys, fenders (not for a vette) The amount was just unbelievable. I went to the dump/recycling so many times that they actually pulled me aside and asked if it was private or a business. The red tape with all importation paperwork and fees was a nightmare. I never want to move again. The container was picked up in Wiesbaden, shipped to Bremerhaven by LKW at the end of Nov.05. Then by ship to SF, train to Salt Lake and wheel to Udaho. I received it in Idaho on my door step in March of 06. We had just 2 hours to unload it all or had to start paying 75.00 every 30 minutes. The hammer was after all the furniture arrived we decided we did not like it for our new house and bought new. To say the least, it was a 10k adventure.:banghead:

:chinese:
Been there. I lived in a 35' travel trailer for 3 years, traded it in on a 36' 5th wheel trailer. I never did find places for all the junk I'd packed into that 35 footer. And then cleaned the 5th wheel out 5 years later. It's a wonder the axles didn't break from the load. All 3 of them.

The company I work for out here have spent the last 10 years building one large compound for all emplyees to live on, not scattered around several different, rented compounds. We're all supposed to start moving in April - I am seriously NOT looking forward to it!

At least we have movers pack it all up and take it over for us, I just have to cull some shit before they arrive!

The culling is not the issue for ME, the issue is trying to sell this shit in today's economy....not giving it away, and most of it is basically unused or not cared about anymore....

things like a monster stereo system, and a whole damn house full of nautical antiques....

:crylol:

The problem I always have is.....The part will sit for years!!! and sure as shit as soon as I trash it or sell it..a week later I will need it. Hoarding parts for cars and in my case old stereo equipment is a true sickness with me. One the same note are there any audiophiles also on this site?? Whether it is car parts or Vintage stereo...I need to belong to a support group..HELP! :hissyfit:

I have an 18" rack of Crown analog equipment. Altec "Voice of the Theaters" too. Gene has some nice gear also.

Old McIntosh here, old hobby going back to cave man daze yet, predates my first ex wife even.....used to have 6 complete systems at one time, speakers all over the joint, never ever owned a receiver until one for the back room here years ago....

one day I sold it all, and paid cash for my first McIntosh setup....

I have 4 ML2c's I run them stacked....4 12" woofers per channel...for a total of 8 woofers....my MC2002 amp was checked at 400 watts/channel RMS.....
C31v, Mq107, Mq102 is in use now....
still have my Phase Linear 5000 tuner (unused in years, who in hell listens to FM anymore?), and Phase 1000 dynamic range expander (another old thing from the analogue daze) and a Tandberg TCD300 cassette deck, remember THEM??

and of course the obligatory Monster cables, which I know are horse shit with regard to sound, but those gold connectors do not go buzzy like the rest of them....so there they are....

I don't listen any more, just TV sound backup...so it's all for sale, as a system, not going to break it up....

:hissyfit::friends::D

Open challenge, no one can out geek ME.....;-)))

Ahhh... gotcha. If we have a party, we just run the music through the band PA - wicked loud!

The task of the home stereo is to REproduce music as it was when played....

NOT to make noise....

It's a bunch of old "high end" stereo equipment.... my place has a few humongous and very outdated systems too...

UPDATE - We got moved in yesterday. We woke up at 4 am (couldn't sleep) went to the diner and stoked our furnaces in preparation for a long day. It was finally all said and done at 11 pm - sold the old house at 11:30 am, bought the new one at 12:30 pm, started unloading the truck at 2:00 pm - 9 hrs. later I was ready to collapse.
Tonight I am sitting in front of my fireplace (never had one before) with my plasma TV on the mantle - the 'Vette is in the driveway and life is good....

Now the challenge is going to be unloading all of the stuff we crammed into the garage and sorting it out so I can PUT THE "VETTE IN THE GARAGE where it belongs!:bonkers:

The laws of physics can not be outdated, or rendered obsolete....

:flash::crutches:

No - but oversized stereo equipment can be outperformed by newer more compact technology

Tell you what - you put all of your music on a nice high end reel to reel and I'll put mine on an i-pod, then we'll put one of each in the 'Vettes. You tell me which one is outdated and obsolete.
