after ending a session on the internet I click file-exit, sometimes when I try and go back on to the internet I am getting a message from Firefox that basically says your already running Firefox and you need to close it or restart your computer, upon restart everything seems fine, until later when I get this message again......anyone have any ideas??

That shit happened to me, I did a uninstall on FF, and then went back with I exploder and d/l FF again....reinstalled and fine.....

BTW, I just tried Google chrome.....it's crap, slower than any of them....

:rofl::smash:

Firefox hanging up and remaining in the task list. Press ctrl-alt-del and under processes find the firefox process and kill it. It's not shutting down properly

Best fix is to uninstall that junk and use google chrome. I have been using it for some time and it's simply awesome. Google Chrome is not slower at all, just don't use all the additional junk, bare bones chrome. Best thing, every new tab is a new process so if one page hangs you won't loose everything. It will eat a little more resources because it opens multiple processes though. Try it, you might like it.

I never in a million years thought I would have an Apple computer, but a few months ago I bought a MacBook Pro and it so much better than any PC I have used. I still have to use a pc for work for the software, but for personal use the mac is so much better. Plus all aluminum and glass construction.

I use Firefox exclusively and used to have this same problem but only occasionally. I don't think it's happened since I upgraded to Firefox 3.5. I'm not sure its actually Firefox causing the problem. It may be an add-on, Adobe, Java or something else that interfaces with Firefox. If you aren't already running the latest version of Firefox, upgrade. Then go to "Tools" then "Add-Ons" and use the "Find Updates" button to make sure any add-ons are the latest. It might help to update Adobe reader and Java as well. Ditch the Microsoft version of Java and use the Sun Java version available at www.java.com

I have to be really desperate to use some .doc whatever sent in that PDF file of A-dopey software......seems like EVERY time I ever read anything with their crap system, my machine gets fucked over.....I can't avoid it, but it's been going on for since I been on the net...some 15? years now....

only been maybe 8 computers from win'95 through XP....crazy...

why ME, Lord??? WTF did I do???

:cry::flash:

Mine does the same thing, it only takes a min or two to go away though

Strange. I've been using FF almost exclusively for about four years and can't ever recall a problem like what you're describing. Why don't you just use the little 'x' box up in the right corner to close it down?

The SOB don't react.....after about 30 seconds of the puter going nutz, I get sick of it, and hit the main power switch.....

drives wifey poo crazy.....she been told to go 'start' shut down, etc....

but I know how computers work, when reset goes 'shut up' in the CPU, all the little children running around go shit tight.....

Most likely you have the options set to delete temp files on exit. If you were viewing a bunch of videos, or hadn't exited Firefox for a while, it will take a bit to delete everything. If you run Task Manager before you exit Firefox, you can see it get busy on exit, run for a minute or two cleaning everything up, then go away.
