My ebay mistake

I have to admit to once having been very naieve and buying a Corvette off of ebay without going to see the car first. It was supposed to be a clean 1980 "no hit car with a straight body and nice paint". On ebay the car looked good and so did the price. I won the auction and had the car shipped to my home. A couple of days later I had the car up on a lift and took these pictures. I had to confront the seller and ask for a refund which he refused to do. He went and lawyered up and was extremely uncooperative. I then got ebay involved and informed them that a fraudulent sale had taken place and that the seller misrepresented his car. I also contacted the FBI internet fraud complaint center and filed a complaint against the SOB. It took several weeks but I got all of my money back including shipping costs less a few hundred dollars. I considered the few hundred dollars as a lesson well learned - go kick the tires first!
Just to treat the seller as kindly as he treated me I made sure to pee in the fresh air intakes below the windshield before I shipped the car back to him.
Here's a few pictures of the "No hit, Straight body" 1980 C3.

Notice the nice straight lines and the nice paint chips

And a busted spring pocket as well as a cracked frame above (hard to see)

And just slightly mangled here

Lesson Learned the Hard Way

Not to pee in your intakes, I mean cornflakes, but those tears in the frame holes may have nothing to do with frame damage. Apparently the 80s vettes had lots of these tears in the frame holes as they used these to attach the cars to the transporters during delivery. Since the old frames were thicker, they were used to over tightening them. When you did this with the thinner frames, they tore.

Certainly doesn't account for the other things that you saw though. Glad you were able to resolve it, even if painfully.

The torn holes do look like they were torn out on a rack, not uncommon to find that from strapping down on a trailer but if you look closely, the ones on the differential crossmember are torn out too, look at the one right next to the bent down gusset. That car is a POS.

Sorry but I read you original post above and did not see how you finally received your money back?

Can you give others advise as to how it worked for you, thanks
