( Gene-esque reminiscence

I had a '59 3/4 ton long bed Apache for 27 years. I loved that truck. It served me well and it was so simple and reliable. I finally sold it after it had been retired in the back yard for several years. The kid I sold it to didn't have enough money but kept bugging me about it. One day I was giving him a 'tour' of it and when I peeled back the floor mat to show him the brake master cylinder, I saw the formerly sound green painted floor board had become a sheet of rust. I decided right then and there to sell it to him so he could give it the attention it deserved. I saw it around town for a couple years, he did right by it. But I still miss it.
