Mystery of the Traub Motorcycle

I had posted this before but I have been very interested in this bike and was hoping someone would by now offered more details as to who built it.

Kind of interesting that the engine castings have the Traub name cast in. Seems like more that one set of parts would have been made.

Lots of bikes were scrapped during WWII. If they had made 10 or so of them, it wouldn't be surprising for only one to have survived. This one was hidden behind a brick wall in Chicago. What's really puzzling is that as far as I've heard, no one has found any references to it at all, anywhere. It's like it dropped out of a different dimension.

I have heard of the name, and seen one, decades ago....that's about all I can say.....they had a lot of interesting WW2/earlier stuff around Wash DC for many a year, hell it wasn't until the NIXON administration they got around to tearing down the old WW2 temp office buildings all over the famous monument grounds .....the joint looked like a shanty town it was so bad, gray with blue trim....

for some vague reason that Bike Name TRAUB....is associated in/around/under? one of them buildings....
