Enjoyed the post!

Too bad a lot of the named manufacturers have gone out of business.

:flash: I am totally shocked at the sheer NUMBERS of auto companies that have gone out of business over the last what? 130 years or so, especially considering the major amount of effort it takes to come up with any design concept that is possible to duplicate efficiently, set up an assembly line, and actually market the damn thing.....

Years ago, they did it with some D size drawings, and a slipstick, today I"d imagine all the standards and testing results are in some computer, so they already pretty much know what the crash tests will yield, what the MPG will be, and so forth, but still someone has to make all the molds/dies/bearings/engines, etc....

not with cars, just a little electronic box but it took the company I was with over a year to come up with a new box, and 6 months to modify one of the older models talking napkin drawings over lunch to on the assy line and in the catalog.....
