My welder buddy's g/f is German/Italian, been here for some years, applied for American citizenship, passed all the stuff they tossed at her, and so is being sworn in on May 1st, SO, Ella can then remove the German/Italian flags off the back of her RED Chevy......

SO the question is, what to get her for a present, they having a party for her the following weekend...Sunday I think....

Linda and I just setting here thinking about it, and are sort of stuck....

:hi::sweat::huh2:

When one of my employees became a citizen, I had a supplier with a water jet machine cut out an American flag plaque out of stainless steel.

She loved it, and 5 years later it is still on the wall of her cubicle.

Ask Karsten, he knows how to get rid of the accent, he absolutely has no accent LOL

as for a present .. hell if I know LOL

Get her something Nice - and all American -- 1911 - You pick the manufacturer, just make sure it says made in USA.:thumbs:
Now - to make her a Floridian - she'll need a CCW! That will be on her!

(The 1911 will be a nice rub on any remaining Porsche-links she might have in left over DNA.):)

Cheers - Jim

Check with your local Congressional Rep - maybe get her a flag flown over the Capital Building?

NICE thought, but dunno it's do able in ten days....much less shipping/costs....

lots of those requests in there, surely....:surrender:

I guess you could get her a new 2014 Corvette? That's pretty American...

And she certainly needn't remove the flags from her car, just add one!;)

My wife's English and we fly them both...

What? the flag mandatory :huh2: ?!?

Nah, up 2 her.....:surrender: Trick is, Linda has to teach her to drop the thick German/Italian accent, and speak southern backwoods Florida drawl......

Who would want to sound like they were one of the three people born in Florida during the past 100 years? :rofl:

How about a silver dollar from the year of her birth?

Mike

Good idea Mike, and so I called around to coin dealer here, and so the US MINT stopped making REAL silver dollars in 1935, and did not resume making even lesser silver content 'dollars' until sometime in the '80's......

BUT we located a proof set of penny through 50 cent piece, in the presentation case....all nice and pretty and affordable, from '68.....

so looks like your suggestion has come around.....thanks man.....

maybe look into the flag over the capitol thing too...but that would require some really close gymnastics....unlikely.....we only have a week's notice on this....oh well.....

NOW we get to rag on Fernando for being an illegal......

he works in home decorating/remodeling/design.....:rofl::rofl:

Gene,

Glad my suggestion worked out. I've always liked coins. One of my uncles always gave me a half-dollar or silver dollar when he would come to visit back when I was a kid.

Sometimes the coin by itself seems a little "underwhelming" and/or impersonal. Proof kits are nice as they already have some kind of display. One thing I've done is mount the coin in a small picture frame. You can add a message or art or something on the mount. Another thing is to have a plaque made. Either way, a personal message adds a nice touch and makes it a little more memorable.

Mike
