Hi all,

I am new from Texas, came about my Vette a little differently. It was purchased for my son's first car as a definite project car for the two of us.... Well, he will help, and is willing, but, he doesn't like working on cars at all. Soooo, he talked me into swapping the Vette for my '01 Trans Am.

Here are some pics on my totally incomplete, and inept attempt at a web site (have to get my son working on it)... :) https://sites.google.com/site/locost7build/ There is a link towards the bottom of the web page for Corvette Stuff. The first few pictures are of the Corvette, the last few are me making a new attachment for the handle to lock rod pin bell crank. All that was in it before was a screw, I didn't realize that it had a spring attached until after this was already finished. I looked up a new door handle after I finished this, and they are pretty cheap. If this doesn't work, not out a whole lot of time, nor money. That is always a good thing!!!

I have been working on and modifying cars for a good thirty years and am looking forward to getting started on this one. It is a '79 L82 4spd without the original engine, unsure of tranny (haven't investigated and not important to me). The car needs mechanical, interior and paint work.

Nice to find this forum, thanks to the hard work of the folks that are providing this for us!!!

Welcome to the motley crew.....

the stock trannies had no overdrive option, so if you hit the freeways with it, you WILL need overdrive, in Texas....up NE region, not so much....
I went O/D when moved to Florida 14 years ago....

Welcome to Texas....Austin is home for me.

I am in the DFW area.

MrVette couldn't agree with you more about the OD tranny. When I go in with the new or rebuilt engine it will have an OD tranny behind it
