I've been a member since June 08, but never did the intro. I've got a '79 L82, 4 speed with 25k original miles (I'm the 2nd owner). Glass tops, leather interior, always stored inside. Stock except for stainless true duals (no cats). Currently trying to get it to run well. It misfires about the time the secondaries open and loads up and doesn't run well at all when it it is hot. Previous owner doesn't remember tinkering with the carb, but someone wrote something with a marker on the secondary air flap which leads me to believe tinkering has happened.

Adjusted the secondary metering rods according to Lars papers and the misfire got way better so maybe I'm on the right track. Going to adjust the power piston this week (two parades this weekend) to see if that helps. Beginning to wonder if I have a vacuum leak when the motor is hot.

Other than that, I'm just an old guy (65) in Montana trying to recapture his youth.

Welcome to the forum! Got any pics? We love pics.....

It's a '79 L-82 5 speed for me.....

Post your engine issues in the engine section and someone will chime in with some suggestions.

Welcome to the motley crew of the Flying Dutchmen.....

My youth escaped years ago.....suffered major casualty upon recapture....:bestwishes:

quad carb? tighten secondary spring 1/4 turn but not anymore than 1/2 turn. see how that works for you.

Secondary airvalve spring windup needs to be about 3/4 turn and up to 7/8 turn in some cases. Some engines can handle a loose setting of only 1/2 turn, but I've never seen 1/4 turn used with any success. I run 3/4 turn as the baseline setting for all performance applications.
