If you dunno, fine, no sweat, but if you actually know and care enough, I have a interesting story to tell....

:mime:

OK, I give it up.....Pete Estes was G Mgr of Pontiac Division before he became President of GM....back in the 60's......

and so in my old vette club, on shop night I run across this 'service writer' named Alice, well this Alice was very well dressed, a lot too much neat about her for just a service writer, and so she seemed to know a LOT about various cars and trucks in the shop for repairs.....the vette club has shop nights on 3rd tues of every month, in the bays able to use the lifts, with dealership help if necessary....from 6pm till closing at 9pm, so I walk by her office, and her last name is Estes....I ask if her dad was Pete Estes, she said it was her grandfather, and to please keep it quiet, no one was supposed to know anything except Harry, the dealership owner.....OK, I knew something was up that this WELL dressed slick chick is a mere service writer.....Who had much more paperwork in her office she was very diligently going over, than any other 'servicewriter'

SO about 3 months later, there was a wholesale cleaning out of top management, bloody Saturday, all the top guys GONE, and a new MGMT crew in place by Monday morning.....

the story came out over the ensuing months, acknowledged to me by the owner.....that Alice's real job was roving dealership troubleshooting undercover, called in by the boss/owner to find out WTF is going on.....because the numbers ain't lining up too good.....

NO WONDER the kid knew every part on every car in the shop.....

:cool::lol::crutches:

Any pictures of the headhuntress

She was good looking alright, but it was nearly 20 years ago, but no totally outstanding beauty we think of in a pin up sense, but the lady had CLASS, her voice, movements, dress, hair, she did not look like a typical service writer/working gal.....

sorry no pix, except in my brain.....

:clap:

Let me get this story right.

You are flirting with a girl that has it all together, likely a ton of money in the trust fund, loves cars and probably more so Corvettes, and based on the fact that she had not changed her last name was single.

You could have been with Alice, …in wonderland! :D

The name was familiar to me from reading all those Corvette books on my shelf as that of a senior executive. Just could not recall the details.

Yeh, right, hahahahahaha NFW I was age ~50 she was maybe mid-late 20's.....nice thought though......thing that did amaze me was she hung her shingle out right there at the office, legit name, and NO ONE at the dealership, except the boss, knew who she was....turns out her father, Pete's son was head of .gov relations for GM, in the DC region.....I have NO clue as to any trucking company relations there....quite possible, and a pretty close connection....given that it's not on a clothing/fashion line....

:crutches:

So in her office, she picked apart the entire dealership operation, and noted what was what, via the NUMBERS, what else? and so the boss acted when presented the facts, she stuck around another couple of months after that, never seen again.....methinks it is a business for her/them fixing ailing dealerships, boss following formulas and the accounts are LO, and someone with superior knowledge needs to get in there and do a forensic accounting, and of course needs know cars inside and out.....I heard her conversation with one of the line mechs and she knew as much or more than HE did.....can't help but pick up my curiosity, then I spotted the name...and asked, as above....
