Not Bad Money For a NOM '69

I see what you mean by NOM. I'm certainly no expert on the history of these cars but it say's:

The engine currently in the car is an authentic Traco-built all-aluminum ZL-1 427 with more than 750hp

Is this the engine that it raced with or something that was changed after it was retired from racing?

It probably raced with several different engines, but the original was an L-88 not a ZL-1.

Its crazy what these former racers sell for. With the damage they sustained while racing, there is probably very little left of the original car. But as long as 2 people with a lot of money want the same car. . . .

By the way, here's a pic of the car back in the day:

IIRC, most of those guys in those days ran L-88's. The iron makes more horsepower than the aluminum. Cylinders stay round. Heavy as a brick, but reliable. They ran what was really trick stuff. 7/16 rod bolts, special HD full floating rods from GM, light flywheel, and all forged everything. 7/16 pushrods too. But unless you kiss a valve with a piston, it's not going to bend either. And that's running at 6500-7000 RPM all day.
