After 8 years of paperwork, finally, this morning my SO and I pledged allegiance to the Queen (irk) and are now full fledged Canadian Citizens.
We're proud as beavers that just took a sequoia down.

Pledging allegiance to the queen works for me. I wouldn't want to pledge allegiance to her fairy son.

Thanks!

I moved from France, which I keep the citizenship.
I've been working for 20 years in the video game industry.
When The internet bubble popped at the turn of the century, this industry was hit very hard time.
After years of struggling I moved here in 2005 on a desperate move to pay off my debts to my friends and family.
France is so culture loaded and old school that videogame is viewed as a minor entertaining activity for brain-dead teenagers.
OTOH Quebec in general and Montreal in particular have been for the last 15 years actively nurturing its videogame and multimedia industry.
And it really works, Montreal is Video game's Hollywood.

So now I've got a descent job, but more important, when I tell what I do for a living, people goes "oh", "cool", "awesome", "you must be a big brain"
In my home country it was "meh", "get a job freak", "when are going to grow up".

That and the Corvette, the two best improvement.
May we not tell about the weather...

Thanks Karsten.
You'd be surprise by the food quality there. Lot of Frenchies are moving in to escape the economical doldrums, bringing their lifestyle and taste.
Now you can find locally produced goat cheese, baguette, saucisson and such that really stand the comparison.
And the poutine, when done right, can be a real treat :bonkers:

And as bonus....

Congratulations!!

(Some poutine sounds good- I kind of got to like it while I was up there in Mirabel.)

Denpo,

The times I worked in Toronto I was always struck at how every ethnicity I met was a Canadian first. They were PROUD to be there and contributing to the greater whole. Every where I went I sensed " we're number two and try harder"! Streets were spotless clean.

Good on ya, Mate and I'm shough you'll flourish:bestwishes:

Hey welcome aboard mon chum!

Félicitation a tous les deux.

Apart the weather in winter, it's not a bad place to live.

Then, when you know where to look, theres also a hotrod culture, not as developed as in the US but not too bad either, food? hey it's also a matter of knowing where to look.

There's an international renouned chef who does poutine with ''foie gras''

Watch at 4,56 and see what he has in plan for Antony Bourdain, hilarious.
And Bourdain said he finaly found his match.
(we need to go there and have a lunch there)

And in Québec, theres a bit of european culture left in us and were proud of it.

Again, felicitation a vous deux.

Thanks Steeve.
Montreal is a bit different from Toronto, much more messy, less of an all-immigrant province and more of the homecountry of the Quebecers.
Let's say Toronto is of protestant origins while Montreal is clearly Roman Catholic. has its pros and cons.

Hey welcome aboard mon chum!

Félicitation a tous les deux.
Merci mon pote.
Thanks you my friend, you've been the one who there when you need it the most, I'll never forget.

Welcome to our home on native land.
Thanks buddy. While not a big fan of Mary and Stephen, I definitely love Canadians, coolest people I ever met.
