Oh God. It never ends

My favorite quote:

"The vast majority would have bought them anyway," as purchases of appliances such as fridges and washing machines are far less discretionary than, say, cars or big-screen televisions, Darkatsh says.

And for you California guys:

The recession's ability to blunt the program's impact was underscored by a call to the California Energy Commission to discuss its approach to the rebate program. The entire state office is on unpaid furlough each Friday in August; no one picked up the telephone.

My fridge backs up on the outside wall, which is behind a storage shed....

the great temptation is to change out the coils for the rear wall type, and hang them outside for the convection cooling, and run lines in to the fridge...putting the comp outside also....the thing now manages to warm the concrete/tile floor...NOT good with running a/c....

:bounce:

I have always thought about ducting the air in/out. Maybe a summer/winter damper.

My washer/dryer hutch with two doors in front, has some screened over holes in the garage/frame wall, for 'fresh air' to the clothes dryer....it's closed off from the house fairly good when the doors are shut...

Up north, a commercial HVAC mechanic friend, who taught me a/c work...he suggested putting a simple 4" dryer size line to the suction/return of the HVAC blower to turn the house slightly + in pressure, that keeps air incursion down to a minimum, and it did increase the comfort factor pretty good.....I gotta think to pull that fridge out and look at this more seriously....

they say 20% of the energy load....that's significant...lots more than some damn 100 watt lightbulb...even a house full of them...considering a 24/365 use cycle....

It never ceases to amaze me how proficient politicians are at giving away other people's money.

WTF is next? "Cash for Cunts?" Trade in that old wife for a new one.

Oddly enough, I've seen several articles stating that the only business that really thrives in a recession is prostitution. Which, IMHO, is exactly what Da' Bird is saying.

A whore is a whore! Only difference is with a conventional Prostitute you get what you pay for...With a politician (a vote whore), somebody else gets what you pay for.....

.....You a farm boy??, You remember this sound....SSQUUEEEEL!!
