This is weird. I just changed the oil in my 140ci 4 banger Mustang engine and noticed it consumed almost a QT on the first 500 miles after the oil change. Reason I noticed is that I drove 500 miles interstate two days after I changed the oil, I had to add 1/2 QT after 270 miles when I needed gas, then added almost another 1/2 QT after 230 miles..... now here's what I don't understand: on the way home it did not burn much oil at all, checked oil at 250 miles and it was just under the 'full' mark.... checked again when I got home and it's still just under the 'full' mark so maybe 8oz are missing.....
It's not not smoking at all and I am not concerned about burning 1qt on 500-600 miles but I wonder why it's burning more oil right after an oil change and then returns to "normal" after 500 miles .... any ideas ???
