I'm going to run an oil cooler and have the adapter etc. Apparently when the filter is on, it hits the header in the location of the merge collector. I guess this is the reason why my car came with an oil cooler and a tuned engine with the rams horns still on it. I wanted to use an oil filter relocation kit for this reason, but it seems that the AN fittings i'm going to use to make it work, are still to close to the header collector (3/8")

Anyway, did you guys run into this problem before ? How did you solve it.

ahum, i know, but then i will run in other problems, like having to cut the crossmember, no place to put the oil reservoir etc.

Must say that the oil cooler adapter is rather large..

On a previous car, a 69 Coupe with a clone L88 engine, I was going to install an oil cooler. I brazed the fittings into the stock oil pan. The scheme was to use an electric pump to pump oil out of the oil pan, circulate it through the cooler, and then dump it back into the pan. I had thoughts at that time that one of the traditional Holley vane gasolene pumps would work with hot oil. Not the most sophisticated, and probably not that of optimum efficiency. But it certainly would have reduced oil temps. The car was stolen before I got a chance to proceed on with my oil cooler plans. Anyhow, pump and cool the oil in the pan reservoir and you will get a reduction in oil temps. This will avoid the necessity to tap oil out of the oil filter attachment point. Just a suggestion, since I've never actually done it, I can't really forcefully advocate this.

I just had someone suggesting putting the oil cooler in series with the remote oil filter. Any drawback to this setup ? Maybe some problems with regards to the oil thermostat i was going to put in between the motor and oil cooler.

I never ran a thermostat (and wouldn`t) but putting the remote & cooler in series is a good idea but make sure your lines are big enough like a #10

Yep, everything is 10 AN. Why not a thermostat ?
