oil filter sandwich adapter, using one? Leak?

I have one of the Trans Dapt sandwich adapters that I am using for the extra outlets to allow for my oil temp sensor and an under hood oil pressure guage. I am having a problem getting the thing to seal against the engine block. The shank that they give you to tighten it up against the oil filter spin on nipple has a verry thin shoulder that once I get it snugg I cannot get a socket on it to tighten it any more.

Has anyone had an issue like this and have a solution? I was thinking about smearing some black sealant on the O ring and then try reinstalling the adapter. Thoughts?

Buy a better brand, try moroso or similar. A billet piece will most likely cure all your problems. Have sandwich adapters for ext. oil coolers on more than 1 car, never an issue.
