Last weekend I went to the junk yard and stumbled across a couple of nearly complete early Datsun Z cars. I have developed a little bit of an affinity for these cars over the last couple years and thought I might possibly be able to make one decent one by combining the two and a few choice parts.
Bear in mind, these cars are about 80% there but as you might expect, they're both missing some of the same components. So between the two cars, I can mix and match good bits and probably come up with a car that's 90% complete, leaving me 10% I would still have to source (no small part being a hood).
I called the yard this morning to see how much they wanted for both cars. Guy tells me $1000 EACH! Crack smoking fucker. I was thinking that if he had at least one good title I would give $500 for both. They're junk yard cars!

They are junkyard SPORTS CARS....they are gaining popularity a bit, sorta like sharks.....

:D

No I laughed and hung up the phone. I would make an offer if I had COH, but right now, I'm just hoping he doesn't shred/crush them before I can put together a few hundred "spare" dollars.

Just looked at scrap steel prices...dayum almost a buck a pound. I wonder how much steel is left in those 2 bodies... 500lbs each maybe?

Hey CD, since Nissan reintroduced their restored 240Z's evrything for them has gone up in price. I used to use a lot of the rear bits in my racer but I don't bother anymore. People think those parts are made of gold.:crap:

The guy is in business to make money but it sounds like he wanted you to contribute to his retirement fund....

Isn't there one of those insurance wreck sites where you can bid on cars? I am sure that there would be some Z's available.
