Clinging to my guns and religion in KCMO.
I'm going through a pile of old C3 parts that I no longer need (mostly suspension stuff, but a few side items) and I was curious about the brake booster. Does anybody rebuild these things, or should I put it in my ten cents a pound scrap pile?

Thanks,
Mike

The NCRS Driveline magazine has ads from people advertising rebuilding/restoration services.

I've never done it but they are apparently easily rebuildable. The halves are crimped together. Put in a new diapragm and seal and presto, new booster.

So, mine is going to the scrap yard!
Still have a couple of Master Cylinders - THAT MIGHT BE SAVED!

Cheers Jim

master cylinders, calipers, heads, intakes, radiators = scrap too.

You can get modern aluminum replacements (wilwoods and others) for cheap. I don't know why any performance minded enthusiast would ever put pig iron back on their car when superior modern aluminum replacements can be gotten for the same money.

Calipers are well worth the core value - on a rebuild. And that way you can have your cake (err vette) and (drive)eat it while making upgrade!

if you want to put pig iron back on your car....

Blocks are becoming worthless too. Why mess with an OEM used block when the aftermarket are so much better.

I don't race it, or any other car now, so what is 600++++ bux of aftermarket aluminum callipers going to do for me?? I also note that most newer cars seem to still have iron calipers....wonder why??

cost? strength....I bet strength....

NO question I would love to have a LS engine, but don't have ~5 grand to shell out for parts...then to recover only maybe a grand at most for this engine that NOW runs fine....wonder what the block weight diff is between my '89 factory 4 bolt block, and a later LS aluminum block..??
