What does one TRILLION dollars look like?

All this talk about "stimulus packages" and "bailouts"...

A billion dollars...

A hundred billion dollars...

Eight hundred billion dollars...

One TRILLION dollars...

What does that look like? I mean, these various numbers are tossed around like so many doggie treats, so I thought I'd take Google Sketchup out for a test drive and try to get a sense of what exactly a trillion dollars looks like.

We'll start with a $100 dollar bill. Currently the largest U.S. denomination in general circulation. Most everyone has seen them, slighty fewer have owned them. Guaranteed to make friends wherever they go.

A packet of one hundred $100 bills is less than 1/2" thick and contains $10,000. Fits in your pocket easily and is more than enough for week or two of shamefully decadent fun.

Believe it or not, this next little pile is $1 million dollars (100 packets of $10,000). You could stuff that into a grocery bag and walk around with it.

While a measly $1 million looked a little unimpressive, $100 million is a little more respectable. It fits neatly on a standard pallet...

And $1 BILLION dollars... now we're really getting somewhere...

ext we'll look at ONE TRILLION dollars. This is that number we've been hearing so much about. What is a trillion dollars? Well, it's a million million. It's a thousand billion. It's a one followed by 12 zeros.

You ready for this? It's pretty surprising..

Ladies and gentlemen... I give you $1 trillion dollars...

(And notice those pallets are double stacked.)

So the next time you hear someone toss around the phrase "trillion dollars"... that's what they're talking about.

Yeh, sick ain't it?? I think that boils down to some 150 grand/person for debt....

there is NO way in HELL we can work our way out from that mountain, then some 40% of the population is on welfare....

:shocking:

Watching the news this morning, Pa. state workers working without pay, State taxes on the rise..... People can not make ends meet, of course the welfare numbers are going to rise, thus putting more of a burden on the State's finances. It is a vicious cycle, like a snake eating it's own tail. Eventually there will be nothing left, then what will we all do? Go back to living in the woods and hunt small game to put food on the table?:goodnight:

No then the 3rd world countries will have a live aid concert for you guys, they will all come together to help ease your pain... NOT!! LOL

In Western countries it has become a taboo to say "our people first" over here you're instantly branded a nazi if you say that....but it's the only right thing to do, own people first. Why waste tons of money abroad on people who don't even thank you for your aid (in fact they stab you in the back and want to slit your throat every chance they get) when it's well spent domestically. The US is not alone, EU countries are the same. NL for instance is the biggest contributor to aid per persona and in total. I think we're in the top 10 in absolute numbers.

Since the last 50 years about 2300 Billion in total has been spent on 3rd world aid (by governments), the NL contributed a whopping 106 Billion to that, almost 1/20th for a country of only 16.5M ?? That's fricken insane, talk about throwing away money. I don't want to sponsor some waddy melon eating idiot somewhere!!

Amen to that Brother! We need to clean up our own back yards before we go abroad. I have also agreed with this for decades.
What ever happened in Kuwait when Saddam Hussein (a former US ally) invaded and set the country on fire? We went in, put out the fires, sent Saddams troops running and gave the country back to the Kuwaiti's. Shouldn't we have negotiated for some oil rights first? Or charged the Kuwaiti gov't. with the cost of the war? I am sure that they have more than enough money.....
Just another example of us screwing up again.:bonkers:

edit - Wait a minute! Where'd you get that melon eatin' non pc smiley from? I don't see 'em on our smiley page!
