THAT is a PRIME reason most of the cops I have known over the years, became cops....so they could DRIVE FAST.....seriously....:harhar: since I known most of them since they was little kids, and a few are MY age so known them for some 40 years, they will admit that to me with a straight face then a grin.....ain't exactly public knowledge.....but I suspect that by the numbers I know of, it's nearly 90% of the force, that is a motivating factor....

and YES, if you live to complete your duty cycle, the pensions are decent.....

sure beats a measley SS check, for sure....

Like I have told my kids, DONT make the damn mistake I did, working private companies or own small business, even though when working your own business pays well enough, you have NO retirement unless you work it 60+ hrs/week......due to taxes, insurance, overhead, sales, economy, all the bullshit that goes with it....transportation, but at least the trucks and one 'sales' car are tax deductible then....

I tell the kids to find a .gov job...Fed is best, you CANT BE FIRED without a act of congress almost...., second is any state, get lost in some office, then be a teacher, get lost in schools/administration, hide behind your desk....

their mother was 35 years working for NIH, NLM....retired last year or so, spent 35 YEARS, totally abjectly HATING her boss.....long assed fucking time to be miserable on the job.....:suicide::sos::crutches:
