I have had it with Dish TV. Everytime it rains the TV goes out. :rain: Combine that with the audio and video signals being out of sync on the local stations, it makes sick. I am ready for a change. I already have Comcast for the internet use. What do you all prefer? Comcast or Verizon for TV and Internet? I'll need to choose soon.

Frankly I hate both companies with a passion. Comcast increases the price of their service every month and they charge rental for pieces of equipment that you can't use their service without.

Having said this, I never had any problems at all with the cable tv. Did have some LAN issues with their internet which is why we switched to att.

All you have to do is increase the size of the dish a bit. We have a 3 transponder? dish that is a foot bigger than the normal one and didn't loose the signal thru hurricane Wilma. Cost us about an extra 25 bucks with Directv. Maybe lose the signal for 5 minutes 3 or 4 times a year.

Had Comacast internet, and telephone for 1 day, stopped working, called and said the fastest appointment was 2 weeks out, said there's nothing else they could do, so we cancelled. They are way overpriced compared to Directv and after storms it's weeks to get service back.

:shocking: Just a week ago yesterday....Monday at 1130 a tree got hit BAD across the street about 200' from my house, it took comcast two trips on their part, and one on my part to their store down the street.....and THREE replacement modems to find a good one.....finally back on the air 2.5 days later....really hard on my wife who needs it for her book keeping business, BIG TYME.....

We also loose Dish network and it's a larger than average dish, pointed at the south horizon....supposedly not to cut out, but when the sky get so dark we need a match to see it, I can't expect a whole lot really, I guess....
never had a sat tv setup that didn't drop out at those times....since we have internet with comcast, we switch to basic cable there, and get a lousey analog pix that's really narrow on the screen....

some months ago comcast switched to some fancy damn digital modem and wanted another 20 bux/month to still get FOX NEWS....which is about the only thing worth watching.....:pprrtt: so we then got sat tv to save money ...

long since dropped any land lines, but wife has picked up Majic jack for internet based phone service....VOIP works pretty good, I remember talking over the internet some 15 years ago.....back when it was a cute trick....

ATT hard wired into this house via backyard underground wires, was fried out in yet another old lightening strike about 11 years ago.....

:shocking:

I have the Direct TV dish and lost service when it really poured down hard the other day....other than that, never any problems.
