My vette is a '72 as seen on sites below....question is....

Should I powder coat the bumpers black?? and if so....flat/metallic/gloss

so asking for opinions.....

the black on the custom front lower grill is just plain gloss black....

My first preference would be the chrome bumpers. Here in California, the EPA has really stomped on chrome shops. It's really expensive now for rechroming. The black look...wheels, trim, etc is now seen. Black trim can look nice.

I've had a lot of stuff powder painted for a lot of $$$. I really don't see the advantage over painting, particularly when cost is involved. No more powder painting for me.

Green with purple polka dots...... Isn't that what YOU would say ????:clap::clap:

If the chrome is shitty..... Sandblast, prime.... Gloss black...... Goes great with dark green.....

If I look at the theme you have now with the green and matt black accents - hood and front and rear stripes, I would go with matt black finish on the bumpers.

My 2 cents!

IF the present chrome was fine, I not bother, as I like it....BUT

years ago a Verizon truck backed into the left front and took out the bumper/grill and lots of body work with his hitch....the replacement bumper was used, but did for a while, then I picked up a demo Ecklers bumper which is really not right, too wide on the tips, and the middle is not bent right....CHINA, I bet....

then on the old OEM? rear bumpers, I have noted a crack on the topside of the right rear.....and so it's only going to open and rust....

SO, not having cubic bux I thinking of powder coating the old replacement front, having the right rear welded up, and then powder coat the entire group....

or maybe just leave well enough alone.....
