I have my '79 stripped to bare fiberglass and Bondo. I have been reading up some about primer and am still in the gray area (pun intended) about what is the right product to use. I keep reading about EPOXY primer when fiberglass is involved. Do I need to use an epoxy primer over the bare F/G & Bondo or will another product perform better? Then there are the plastic bumpers, do I use the same primer or something different?

First off, I dunno jack about this topic....BUT to say that I heard the EPA weenies are going to make it impossible to buy ANY automotive paint as a individual limiting ALL such paints to 'professional sales' only.....

so maybe my use of Rustoleum on the camper is a hair bringer of the future??

I've used their Epoxy primer and Universal clear on some small jobs so far
and I'm happy with their products and plan to use them a lot more in the
future.

SPI only makes restoration quality primers and clears. Some of if not the best clears on the market, and hands down the pbesst epoxy primer.

Colors, Diamont & Concept are great but spendy. An equally good color is PROSPRAY which is a European system. You can contact Chad at http://www.chadspaintandaudio.com/ for ProSpray. My choice of basecoat.

BEFORE you put ANYTHING including wax and grease remover, on the bare fiberglass do yourseld a favor and call BarryK @ (404) 307-9740. He has done over 70 Corvettes and knows what works and doesnt work. Barry owns SPI.

whatever brand of color you use do not use the low end product lines, they wont save you any money in the long run as their coverage is so poor you end up using more of it along with using up more of your time messing with it.
